The lack of colour makes it feel like an unfinished beta. It's like one of those badly skinned Linux distros, look at the state of Photoshop:

That 'Recycle Bin' looks like Win98 with the Plus pack, there's weird 'corners' on non-minimised windows (hard to see below, but it's there), and the dialogue window colour schemes (or lack of) just look plain wrong in some applications. What a fuck up.

Woooo a reddit thread with 11 upvotes! Surely that's a large enough petition to get MS to do something about it?! For every opinion you see about it being ugly, there are more saying how stylish and nice it looks. Even in the second link there seem to be more people defending it than not.

I'm not sure what point you're making by using a non-MS app to bolster your argument against Windows... the dark monochromatic look is a style Adobe adopted with all of their apps after it was well received in Lightroom.

My Start Menu is just like my old one from win7, get rid of all of the tiles in a couple of clicks.

My point, that you missed, is the plain flat "whiteness" of Windows 10 dialogue boxes (see in the centre of Photoshop?) is just ... like explorer has crashed and the shell is showing some sort of generic bollocks. The reason I used a photoshop window in this example was to show the (hard to see without a 100% screen grab) is that it seems to clip corners on certain apps (Photoshop being one). Chrome also looks shite.

I've always felt that Windows moved forward but I am really not enjoying this.

I don't see that 'clipping' that you speak of on my pc. But then I have made a few tweaks to the scheme to give it more of a colour contrast.

You do realise @Big G, you aren't allowed an opinion...

(I quite like the stark look myself. I have it black with a black desktop)

I liked XP back in the day but that looks crap now. I see 10 as a minimalist evolution from 7/8 and I like it.

I just install Classic Shell in Windows 10 and I can barely tell the difference from Windows 7 anymore.

Except the forced patch reboots. Fuck right off M$. I want to decide when.

For the record I don't see any clipping on Photoshop (or any applications) here either...

You mean this horrible live tile shite in the start menu?

yes. there's a whole bunch of stuff that you can't or can only partially disable. and my ongoing hatred of one-drive on top of that.

except the apps are still there. you can't uninstall them, because MS won't let you.
Meh, if you can't see them does it matter? Nobody gives google that much shit or holds them to that standard...

I only use the free onedrive space as a mail and critical docs backup store. Script runs on startup that backs up thunderbird and my docs to a second drive and then onedrive automirrors that. Not massive, but the space is free...

I do. I hate Google just as much as I hate MS. Correction: I don't hate the products, I hate the design choice through which they force me to have apps installed that I don't want or use, and are not required by the OS.

And you know as well as I do that not being able to see a thing has nothing to do with my annoyance here :)

Edit: I mean, in my Win10 I can turn IE11 on or off as part of the installation features. If they can do it for a thing like IE, why can't they do it for Photos, or One Drive, or Money, or News, or etc etc etc. I suppose it's because of the EC decision and the fine once apon a time.

My brother and mother aren't very tech-savvy, and this paved way (pavements?) for Win10 to be installed on their computers automatically, which they couldn't really stop.

Yeah. Pavements.

"Paved the way" - makes it easy for something to happen. (i.e. walking).

Funnily enough, I prefer walking on grass, or road if I must be on the solid stuff.

It's just a random photo taken from google images to reference a past argument about sidewalks and pavements/paved road.

ISIS are losing ground and have been reduced greatly hardly without any losses. Putting in ground troops is probably the worst you could do at this point
