TBH a lot of artists are pissed off about Spotify royalties; streaming doesn't put bread on the table (for them anyway)

I'm not entirely sure why they did it but as Teeds said its probably Kele throwing a fit and wanting to move away from their roots and become a electro dance band like his solo stuff but I'm probably being harsh.

They make a shitload more from CD or download sales than streams; I mean orders of magnitude higher. You can argue the record companies signed up to Spotify's business model, but at that stage they weren't really setting the agenda. The argument goes that Spotify is like radio and royalties work in a similar way, but its not really an argument that stands up to close scrutiny. The second argument is that something (streaming), is better than nothing (piracy), but its not a particularly compelling argument either.
