They could simply ask people who find them, or pensioners themselves, to dial 999.

Whilst asking the public to stop voting tory, because this is the stuff that tories come up with...
Zzzzzzz politican generalisiation. Almost as accurate as race generalisiation.

Except, @Moriath, you were talking crap.

Starting out seriously: Political generalities are useful - you'd expect Labour to be more to the left of centre, and the tories to the right. The policies of left and right are distinctly different. So - you can make reasonable generalisations about the sort of policies that would seem acceptable to people.

For example - you won't get a Democratic presidential hopeful saying "ban muslims from america" - but you're not surprised it it comes from a harder right Republican.

And you can go way further than that - you can say people who lean to the right in general prefer simple and direct solutions to problems (because they make them feel 'safe') - and even further, it's because they're not as clever - and are more likely to be socially conservative (and prejudiced) as a result. And there's science to back that claim up.
Despite their important implications for interpersonal behaviors and relations, cognitive abilities have been largely ignored as explanations of prejudice. We proposed and tested mediation models in which lower cognitive ability predicts greater prejudice, an effect mediated through the endorsement of right-wing ideologies (social conservatism, right-wing authoritarianism) and low levels of contact with out-groups. In an analysis of two large-scale, nationally representative United Kingdom data sets (N = 15,874), we found that lower general intelligence (g) in childhood predicts greater racism in adulthood, and this effect was largely mediated via conservative ideology

So, in conclusion, saying it's hardly surprising that it's the tories who want to charge old people for being old and falling over is not only a perfectly reasonable generalisation, it's hardly surprising. Tories voted against the creation of the NHS twenty one times after all...

So, to go slightly off-point: screw you hippie. Thick people love the tories. Science says so :)

*BTW - this is in no way an endorsement of the Labour party ;)

Its really not is it? Would any other party come up with something like this?

NB. Its also one of those things that some genius thinks is "more efficient", but will actually end up costing more money, but not out of said genius' cost centre, so they don't give a fuck.

Really?

Tbh, I can see it being true.
I can see it being true based on experience. I live in Tendring and last year when by Grandad fell he was laying on the floor for over an hour. Now my Nan pulled the helpline and after explaining that Grandad had failed but was OK they sent someone to help lift him. This person was as small and frail and my Nan and stood no chance. But because he said he had some pain this person called an Ambulance. Old person and falling did not get a 999 Ambulance it got a community something ambulance. They took one look and said they could not move him in case he was hurt so they called a real ambulance.

Taxing old people for being old is bang out of order but Tendring do need to sort their shit out.

I have a party tonight that I am not really looking forward too. I hate drinking with some of these people. We normally drink using the kitty system. Everyone puts £20 in and everyone gets one drink per round. I find this very easy to understand. But this group of people have the typical arseholes. The couple who think they can both get a drink after putting £20 in between them. No arse face's one £20 equals one drink. But they don't piss me off nearly as much and the exotic drinkers. The dicks that normally have a pint. But as soon as there is a kitty involved they go for stuff like chasers doubles and exotic cocktails.

Women doing their makeup on public transport. I was surrounded by three of them on the train this morning. Maybe I should save time and have a shave on the bus, maybe take a dump while I'm at it.

So, the missus has just seen a crocus, the strawberry plants have started to flower and the daffodils are up in my garden!

I couldn't be fuller with the joys of spring! :)

Oh wait. What?

Definitely no global warming happening. Absolute tin-foil hattery. It's definitely about redistribution of wealth and tree-hugging hippery

You're kind of mixing up weather and climate there, but that's OK, common mistake with those who don't know what they're talking about.

And this mild weather we're having isn't new or exciting, it's called El Nino.

Which I think means the winds cost you 50 million and couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, but I may be wrong on that one :)

Back in England after like 30 hours of travelling. I've been craving a roast dinner for months (no access to a proper oven in houses I've lived in in Japan). I got home today to find that the oven is broken ;(

Nope. Weather's transitory, climate is changing. We've had El Nino years before you know but never in my life have I seen the daffs, crocuses and strawberries start flowering a few days before christmas...

No, this is weather, not climate. They are not the same thing as you've described.

Anyway you wouldn't have seen a December like this, as the last one was in the 70's. Then before that in the 40's (1948 iirc). I'm sure if you go back further you'll find more examples - all very natural, and won't be avoided by paying more tax.

Yet, it has happened before.

I do love how climate change fanatics just won't shut up about it if there is anything slightly out of season but are absolutely silent when everything is normal. Its almost like they obsess about small things and miss the bigger picture. Its actually quite damaging to real research.

So, off to A&E for the 2nd time this year due to the same problem I had in March. Then it was surgery and 3 weeks off work, 2 of which unable to sit down.

Just before Xmas, which was nice.

THANK YOU.

Been accused of being a tight Scotsman because of this. Girls drink ridiculously priced cocktails at £8 a shot, guys drink pints at £4.50 a shot. Given the girls drink more of them, you get fuck all return for your massive kitty investment.
