The French.

Or more specifically.

The French who work in Calais.

3 hours and 20 minutes! For a 40 minute journey.

I cant believe they let them strike again. Its not just the fact of the strike its the blockade that they do. If we arent going to work no one else is. Very miners strike like which affects everyone more.

Isnt that the whole point of transport strikes? Inconvenience as many people as possible to try and put pressure on negotiators?

I dont see taxi drivers here blockading airports.
Thats just it tho. Its here. Not the french.

French taxi drivers set upon Uber passengers with metal bars, rolled cars, set them on fire.
British taxi drivers did a go-slow through London.

TBH, close Calais port. Two problems, one stone. The protesters and the immigrant camp.

Does anyone know even what they're protesting about? - It's fine to go 'meh, French.'

We think our unions hold our government to ransom, they can block trade between the UK and France, lol.

Pension reforms. same thing teachers (and a lot of other public sector workers) have been kicking off about for ages. And the ferry workers' strike was because the company that they work for sold some ferries to a competitor, or something.

Eurotunnel bought MyFerryLink. Eurotunnel then decided to sell MFL to DFDS. MFL staff are unhappy about this as roughly 300 jobs will go.
MFL staff lost a court battle to stop the sale.
MFL decided the correct response to this was to set train lines on fire.
Today.

Yet a better quality of life and working conditions.

Stupid placid brits and their rape-me-and-I'll-be-grateful attitudes...
Different quality of life. Wouldnt agree that it was better. I know lots of french people and nice enough bunch they are too. Until they get together as a group hehe.

Working conditions depends what sector etc. but the big companies get arpund those hours per week rules by giving a bit more holiday.

I was never one to stand on convention.

They may turn out to be Elderflower Bombs next week, whilst I'm in France, if fermentation continues at the pace it's currently going!
