My house stinks of paint. I don't like it.

I intensely dislike DIY but the bird raged (correctly) the other day that the place was looking pretty shoddy. So tonight I've cleaned everywhere, sugar soaped the particularly offending walls in the kitchen, living room, hall and a bedroom and painted. (I also achieved minor plumbing and the varnishing of some wood).

I'm doubly annoyed that I'm a living example that you can get lots of shit done in a very small amount of time if you're not a lazy fucktard of epic proportions - and that our house could be much much nicer for a minimum outlay if I wasn't that fucktard. But I am.

Meh. I'll get over it ;)

Legally obliged didn't protect anyone. Look out for yourself ... No one else will.

Certainly how you're taught to think when you learn to ride a motorbike.

I had a look on Google maps from the truck driver's perspective; he's obviously seen a traffic light change and assumed it was for all drivers, when its actually just for straight ahead. Junction should have a filter on it really, but he's still in the wrong.

Actually, the cyclist had no business coming from where he did, if you look at the road layout, no traffic should be coming from the truck drivers right (or left) unless its coming from straight on. Idiot cyclists.

it takes two wheels longer to come to a stop than four wheels

Have to point out that this isn't exactly true. Depends on weight, 4 wheeler type, breaks, skill used etc.

Anyhoo, i agree with;
Yes sometimes its the cyclist putting themselves in harms way. Sometimes its the dick driver who doesnt look properly. Works both ways :)

That's the fact of the matter.

You can argue over the one incident for sure, legal, blahdiwhattinot, but as a whole you can't just go "For those saying cyclists suck look at this!". Ofcourse you can find examples, but examples aren't the rule.

Not to mention nothing happens in the video, nothing even "nearly" happens. It's an overreaction video to a car being close. Silly bikeys,

When im on my bike and on a road (hurray for decent cycle paths in this country) i always assume i havent been seen

Dont want to get run down :p

Theres a petrol station nearby where i would have been flattened 4 or 5 times by people not paying attention when they pull out/in

but i stopped because being alive is more important than being right in this case ;)

There are plenty of cycle paths round here, the vast majority are now swept by sweeper every week or so too. They have improved the cycling immensely from town since the cycling scheme was started. For a fee, you can pick a bike up from the train station and ride it to various other places around town and the surrounding area and drop it off. Like the Boris bikes in London.

...cyclists still like to hold up traffic on the road though, while playing dodge the HGV. Wheezing along at 10mph on a 40 or 50 road is frankly, dangerous road use.

What the hell are you talking about? There's a cyclists' filter off the main road so they can turn right, and there's a give way marking to tell the truck to stop as he filters left. The truck driver is in the wrong

Wait...no right turn for traffic....but cyclists can turn right?

I guess the junction designer liked pancaked cyclist then....

Who in their right mind would make a 'right turn only for X' when the X isn't the biggest thing on the road?

I spent 10 mins stuck behind a cyclist on a 2 mile stretch of road this morning. Cycling in the middle of the road (its wide enough for a cyclist and a car to pass with about 1.5m between the cyclist and the car) at about 8mph. 10 min might not seem much. But when its the first 2min of your normal 45 min drive to work its fairly annoying :(

Fortunately we are currently suffering 4 months of road works while they put up a 'green' path behind some trees, peds and cyclists.

I went for a drive around the lanes of berkshire last weekend. The amount of cyclists round here has increased massively. Must have been the olympics or something.

Such a pain as a car driver every half mile or so crawling behind a cyclist waiting for a good over take spot. Specially the ones riding two abrest. I wouldnt like to cycle on country lanes with cars doing upwards of sixty bearing down on me.

Do let us know if the cyclists actually use it though ;)

Not so much about the pedos.

They are refusing to use the other 'end' of the new path atm. Its about 500m longer as it deviates away from the road at one point to go around a newt pond.

Cyclist got run over here recently....

Rode out onto the junction without stopping and a car coming down the hill flattened him. No reflectors, probably came out of the pub. Pedestrians get knocked here aswell, again normally drunk from the pub.

I was going to rant hard at this with pictures - but then I saw @DaGaffers post. :)

No reflectors
Oh noes! How could they see him!??!

Reflectors don't work on bikes tbh. Lights at night. The fact that you're a human on a bike during the day. Shouldn't be getting missed by anyone who's paying attention - and if they're not they'll hit a bus, never mind a cyclist...

had the locks changed this morning because previous tenant didn't return all their keys

we got 5 keys for main lock but only 3 for the deadbolt lock

seems a bit weird to me!

The new Yale lock on the composite doors we fit are 5 keys, they are flat 'dimple' security keys, and are expensive to have cut so they supply 5 as standard now because customers were kicking up about the cost for extra keys

Most of the cyclists i see have hi vis jacket/tabard things with reflectors on the back/sides.

Ergo...reflectors :)

And he was run over at night not during the day....

Any cyclist with any common sense would wear hi-vis on the road.

I have to say that is one of my pet hates with cyclists, do you see that lane created for cyclists? FUCKING USE IT AND GET OFF THE ROAD!
