Having completed my first marathon yesterday, I thought I'd get some photos downloaded. You put your number in and the website finds whatever images there are, of you. Only it isn't working, so I thought I'd manually go through the 4,832 pages of galleries myself.

I spent about two hours doing this and I've just realised that the galleries are all of the 2014 event. The 2015 images aren't online yet, which is probably why it couldn't find my number.

What a fucking cunt I am.

I know you've probably answered this before (probably answered me) - but are they gonna operate or is it inoperable?

Rotavirus. Both kids down with it since Saturday, both in hospital last night getting rehydrated (which isn't as medical as it sounds - we could have done it at home if the stupid locum doctor had prescribed anti-sickness syrup). Still chucking up today. Fortunately most adults are largely immune.

Costs so far; €200 hospital fees, €70 for anti-sickness drug, €110 to get the car valeted after they hurled all over it. I've told the kids they're either a. going down the coalmines, or b. launching their own lucrative Youtube channel to pay the bills. They're thinking about it.

Kids are better. Now I have it. FFS

When E-cigs were new they used to sell some fruity zero nicotine e-cigs in the local Budgens, clearly marketed at kids. It was obvious they were heading down the route of catching them young and getting them used to inhaling with a plan on getting them hooked on nicotine nice and early. Most of the branded ecigs are sold by traditional tobacco firms anyway.

Poorly written article though " This makes e-cigarettes the most commonly consumed tobacco product." Er...they aren't a tobacco product...that's kind of the point. It also seems to assume that there is a danger in ecigs, when we simply don't know. Nothing has been found yet and there are NHS approved ecigs made to a pharmaceutical standard.

Actually - we do know - nicotine is a neurotoxin with measurable effects on brain development in children.

Yes, on balance of probabilities they're probably safer than cigarettes (though we've no evidence to say they are) - I say to my smoking mates why not switch? They've nothing to lose but that's more to do with the fact that fags are so bad.

There's also the "precautionary principle" - just because we've no evidence they're as bad as the horribly bad cigarettes (though I understand that we've evidence beyond just the neurotoxin in them) doesn't mean we should steam full speed ahead.

Either way - we've nailed-on evidence that they're bad for kids - and big tobacco (who you rightly point out market the products) are using their old tricks to create poisionous nicotine addiction in children for money...

Just read a report, saying that Danish kids totally skip the cigs and start smoking the ecigs straight away. If you're gonna fuck up and start smoking, atleast do it right. People feel that their ecigs can be smoked every where because "it is just water vapor!". But fuck right off, I am sitting right next to you in the tube and I don't want to see you actually breathing on me. The other day I was in the theatre and ten minutes before the film ended some fat cunt right in front of me started blowing her ecig vapor. I almost smacked her, it annoyed me that much

Plus, secondary smoking is back.

We've evidence that they're not harmless - and I shouldn't be getting neurotoxined (plus whatever else) because these fuckers won't go outside...

Wait, are ecigs legally allowed for kids? I thought they were prohibited like regular cigs.

Friend of mine had an operation to sort out something similar although probably in a worse condition. They basically created a metal cage around the spinal column and fused it to the bone, separating the disks. The Op was a nightmare as they do it from the front. Basically taking most of your abdomen out doing the work then packing it all back in. 11 hours on the operating table with three surgeons! All sounds pretty intense but he is relatively pain free these days.

i'm going to jolt this down in the same category as regular cigs
Regular cig use in children has fallen dramatically since the advertising bans came in.

It's not illegal in the UK to market ecigs at children - and the use of them in non-smoking children is rising because of it. So no, not the same category as normal cigs - because normal cigs have been neutered in terms of take-up.

That's why my post said "marketing neurotoxins to children", not "goddamn ecigs" :)

When yiou put it like that, yeah, marketing should be banned the same as cigs. It's just a cigarette and should be treated as such, but...as there always is...i'm still jolting it down as a parent responsibility to keep your kid informed/safe from things you deem harmful.

I'm sure they smell ghastly too just like the real thing. I'm always noticing them.

Some of them smell nice. I am trying to move over to ecigs from normal but they make me choke like a porn stars first deepthroat. The wham bar flavour smells exactly like wham bars.

Roomie took some cheese etc from the fridge.
Confront; "Sorry, i didn't have time to buy yesterday".
Said "don't do it again without asking".
They get angry because i'm saying that over a slice of cheese or two.

Your womanly "turn it around to be about me" doesn't work here puny rebel.

So in short; people who do something wrong and then try to twist it somehow into guilt, anger, whatnot, instead of bending over and taking it like they should.

One thing I did love about a recent trip to Germany was that you could still smoke in bars without the locals getting all precious about having to change their clothes when they got home. Not just e cigs, if you wanted a Marlboro they were more than happy for you to spark up.

Pretty sure they had non smoking sections for tedious arses as wel, but I didn't really pay too much attention to them.

This. Passed a gentlemen's club the other day called "Tweed" or some such, looked very much like this:

Of course smoking was forbidden, and i can't see the point of having one if you can't fire up a cigar or some such. Bah
