I'd imagine Sweden has alot less roads in the UK, could you imagine the amount of money that would have to be spent in order to change it? Especially because it would be a Council thing, so they wouldn't exactly get best value for money.

Sweden is basically empty. Try it with the UK's population density and road network. Even something relatively trivial in comparison - switching from imperial to metric road measurements - would cost billions. So it ain't gonna happen.

And yes, I have diamond encrusted balls of steel. I've driven the Peripherique in RHD car and I've driven in Portugal, which is the most dangerous country in Europe. Scotland would be a piece of piss.

Dec 28 2013 06:21:25 PM PT Chicago saw an attack a little before 8pm CST that confirmed our fear that null-routes are not taking place immediately. At that time, we saw >20 Gbps and packet loss, so we null-routed the target customer's IP address immediately; but, we continued to see packet loss from that attack for another 10 minutes, telling us that the null-route was not taking effect within upstreams' networks.

This is something we've talked about with Internap over and over again, since it's critical that null-routes have immediate effect in order to reduce collateral damage when an attack occurrs. We are escalating with them again now.

Update @ 1:50am on 12/29: Two more attacks like earlier have happened within the last hour, with us immediately nulling the target but packet loss continuing due to upsteams not honoring it. We can only wait for a fix from them.

Update @ 4:43am on 12/29: Attacks against many different customers continue. It seems as though whoever is attacking is going down the list of BF4 servers and hitting all of them in turn. We are null-routing IP addresses as they are hit in order to try to reduce collateral damage and we have asked Internap to increase our bandwidth at this facility. Unless Internap takes action or the attacker's spoof-capable bots get noticed by their ISP, we will likely continue to see attacks this morning that we are powerless to stop.

Other GSPs also report that they are seeing attacks like these.

Update @ 11:01am CST: Attacks continue with no change in our (in)ability to handle them because of upstream limitations. They are causing heavy packet loss in Chicago.
