I've had to sleep on the sofa downstairs for the last couple of days as it's a bit cooler. Was sitting in the car with the air con blasting earlier and the thermometer was saying it was 28 degrees outside!

You get used to it really. It's just like with the -30C winters, first week is "Meeeeeeh!" then it's back to normal.

I want a season of thunderstorms though. Like two months of daily boomzapsplash.

I'm actually a cold weather person; I love freezing temperatures, snow, all that, and I've got Anglo-Celtic genes that basically means suntans are a pipe-dream, so I don't particularly relish the heat (despite spending plenty of time wandering around deserts and rainforests - go figure), but let's be realistic here, a couple of weeks of "heatwave" and people start acting like the Sun's about to fall on us. Take the current weather for what it is, a nice interlude in the relentless drizzle. The status quo will reassert itself soon enough.

As a Finn summer is great, sun is a luxury really.

Oh its ncie when its warm. However when its 34 degress inside an office full of people it becomes a bit meh. No theres no aircon, yes all the windows are open, yes we have fans on our desk to move the air about a bit.

Still drains the energy out of you....

I don't mind it hot when I'm outside. It's now 34.3 degrees in my room and i have work to do. That's what I can't stand.

Turn off un-neccesary electrical equipment - close your curtains/blinds on the sunny side of the house and shut those windows - open windows on shaded side.

I always vent the heat in the early morning in hot weather by opening all the windows then close all the sun exposed windows as it gets warmer.

These things will keep your house tolerable but if you run too many power hogging electrical devices your only hope is air con.

Edit - oh and the other thing you can try is filling the bath with cold water - mains supply is usually pretty cold and a large amount of cold water will dissipate a lot of heat.

I have an oldish Peugeot Partner for a carrying-big-stuff-around vehicle. No air-con, it's bloody horrible. The cold setting on the "heating" isn't nearly cold enough.

Luckily for me the roads are so empty here that I'm pretty much constantly moving so I can roll the windows down and enjoy some air that way. I'd hate to be sat in it in traffic in this 'ere hot weather, though.

Pretty much what I've got to do, lucky enough we have freezers in the van, if it's too hot I can just sit in it for a while! We use Iveco Daily's at work, I have never driven such an atrocious, heinous, piece of shit vehicle in my entire life; they're semi-automatic and the gear changes just about give you whiplash.

there's a fly in my house that was trying to batter it's way through a window. I opened the window, and now the fly won't go near it, but is annoying me by trying to use my laptop as a base of operations. idiot flies

Put some fly on fly lesbian action on the laptop, then put your laptop outside the window. Problem solved.

I refer you to my first post in this thread.
Flies. They just drive me absolutely mad with their stupid noise, it's really quite irrational how much hatred I can direct towards them. :(
My hatred of flies has not been reduced. When I'm trying to concentrate on something, *nothing* makes me lose concentration and become ENRAGED more than that fucking buzzing.
