I bought my PS3 primarily for getting into the blu-ray player segment without spending close to £1k for a player, then I got hooked on PES and Drake's Fortune so started to use it equally for games. The media centre came naturally, but it has it's minor niggles.

Lots of freeloaders out there, remember how many complained when MS banned modded 360's off live? Nintendo suffer lots from this as well, very easy and cheap to mod a wii. As the online is not as important, you jsut chip it, and install all the games on a large HD.

People will take the risk if they get their monies worth of games. Really stupid imo, as the games industry is fragile as it is, doesn't need more money taken from developers.

Piracy on a small scale doesn't really affect much. For example getting a game you had no intention to buy, or trailing a game before buying.

Hugely difference with chipped consoles that can have massive libraries of games put on to them

I am pretty sure it will turn out to be fake, seems a debug unit can run code off a USB stick so it wouldn't be hard to mock up a few vids and fleece the punters for a while.

Wow, just played GT5 in 3D and I must say the game looks absolutely amazing. The level of detail is simply mind-blowing. Then I play it in 2D and again I was amazed.

Cannot wait to get my hands on this game.

Then had a game of table-tennis using Move and was impressed at how accurate it was. Very good, possible purchase.

Finally moving into the last room I had a chance to play Killzone 3 in 3D (pre-alpha code) and again very impressed with the tech.

Once the design is cloned you can never totally shut them down, hell Ninendo have been going after R4 and Wii-key for a few years now, numerous companies have been closed down after court action and yet you can still buy R4 all over the north of england in normal shops.

All mod chips still contain proprietary code or at least a way to bypass proprietary code therefore falling foul of DMCA at least. Regardless, this usb 'jigstick' will be cloned in China before the week is out and once they have it there is no putting the genie back in the bottle.
