Long Loved Server
Well, i´ve read all the posts on this thread up from the 1st one and up to now i must say i´m both impressed in a good and bad way about some of them.
Every game has problems, and for a game that has been around for as much time as DaoC it´s probably for some inadmissible for this kind of crash to occour ... and perhaps it´s true, but what it also means is that if after years of play on those servers, endless transactions made on the databases, endless patching well i´d have to say that it´s normal it would happend sooner or later and we must thank the GM´s and the people at GOA for the Outstanding work they have done so far, their dedication to the game i believe is extraordinary, cause i believe that more than their work they have the feeling for the game and they got attached to it as much as we did over the years, so Requiel, Xalim (if that is the name) and all the ones i havent had the pleasure of knowing or talking to you have my undying gratitute for the effort you´ve all putten to this game.
Along the way i´ve read people making childish and foolish claims as to getting a full months play for free over this, well i for once would rather not have a full month nor a simple day if i was sure my char was there and that all was being made to keep her as she was when i left it. When people say you will get 4 or 5 days added play time or perhaps 10, take it ... enjoy dont start to bicker over the play you lost but remember that when the server comes up ... there you are again .. your avatar gains life and you can once again gain that second life of yours.
For all the others who have supported and have patiently awaited and helped even if with word, my most sincere thanks for by those attitudes the game got the reputation that was played by adult and fair people, the kind of people that you would feel like being around at night when all other things could not be done ... sure over a network connection, radical bits and bytes of information .. still friends in the end.
A word now to GoA and to the GM´s and all who care to listen,
Thank you all for doing your best to preserve what i believe is a milestone in Online Games, thank your for keeping us together and alive ..... and for not letting the thing that bonded us to the ones no longer with us ... vanish.

Would this be right place to remind that Monday is Bank Holiday in England and Wales and so many of the English server player base may be further frustrated by server downtime should clustering happen that day.
(Although seemed downtime on French servers today wasn't all that long so maybe just a case of having a long lay in

Hey, be glad that you have so good and nice people like Requiel. I remember his help well from the time I played on Prydwen. Now I'm back on german servers, Avalon Hibernia if you want to know it. And I don't even know yet, what the name of my new Gamemaster is. I had a look to the new forum for german Servers and found nothing. Not one single post.
I think you are in good hands. And yes, I'm glad playing on Avalon now. If I would still be on Prydwen, I would realy be in anger.

i have enjoyed nearly 3 years of alb/pryd... i WILL NOT go to another server... even if it means no daoc.....
i have put a lot of time in to this game.... and i mean alot...

Same. Only play Prydwen, all my yoaed chars are on Prydwen, all my friends are on Prydwen.
Excalibur is crap, Camlann has a novelty value, kinda wears off after the 50th chain kill.

i THINK that Xalins suggestion was meant as a 'play on another server for a bit till we've fixed the problem' for people that cant live without daocing!
Not as a 'sorry, server is never coming back up. Time to change server'
These things happen and i truly believe that the Mythic/GoA staff isnt doing everything in their power to fix the problem.
People whining on the forums and calling it bad service etc etc etc wont make it better.
I think most people that play on prydwen want the server to come up asap.
But... and maybe its just me... i'd rather have the server up again WHEN all errors are fixed rather than get it up asap and leave bugs all over the place.

I think some people need to get a bit of perspective.
Daoc is a game.
This the first time the server has been down overnight, EVER.
In over 3 years of solid daoc, this the first time, its ever been down overnight, ever.
Surley that shows the seriousness of the problem goa are trying to handle.
I really wish you "omfg servers down QQ" whiners would go play camlann.
Or atleast realise, that its a rare even, once in 3 years.

TBH I think its more the lack of info on the MAIN GoA site, where it still says they havnt actualy found whats causing it, only those who log on here realy get any news, saying that they Now have found the cause.
Been a loyal customer of GoA for around 3yrs (since day it apeared in shops) and although there ability to keep servers up has been GREAT, there patches have been OK, but as said by many there ability to keep customers informed is shadey at best.
Once upon a time THEY yes GoA had a forum, maybe if they had kept it, people wouldn't need to trall the net looking for the actual information, and could just log onto the Official forum and see instantly....
I hope Goa get this fixed soon, and also as said above keep up the good work, just a pity this had to go and happen, will wait to see what fix brings, pray nobody looses anything, but till then im off for a whole weekend of hangovers and wenching
ps: please fix this soon i'm looking like a right tit, having just talked several friends into joining the game, only to see it go BOOM

But I agree with you and what you are saying, this is the first time the game code has cocked up, on a large scale, on a live server, GoA/ Mythic are trying to sort it, and the feedback from our GM's has been great- as they say, there's no point adding pointless info here or on their webby which will just cause more flames.

Aye, im just frustrated as Im gonna miss ml7-8 on Sunday as I dont have enough ml exp on my minstrel

Honestly? If you say other english servers are crap, it is your decision, and I have nothing wrong with it. But you know daoc enough to play on a foreign language server, to try out a lot of features that make the game great for the new players.Thadius said:

Here a GM as a member of the community, not representing GOA, not making official statements can say what he thinks. And what he / she thinks now means they identified problems that lead to the strage events to prydwen, probably either Mythic or GOA tech team investigating this problem, then either they can fix it, or say this or that function got some wrong parameter, so even if it is the imediate cause of visible bugs, there is another cause behind it...
