Print Screen

On my work machine when I press the printscreen button and paste the result into Photoshop I either get nothing (as in there's nothing in the clipboard to paste) or it comes out black with some text as in the image attached.

It's been like this for a while now and I haven't been able to find any clues to fix it, and every screen capture utility I've downloaded hasn't worked either.

Does anyone here have any bright ideas what the problem could be?

It's running WinXP with service pack 2.

Thanks.

It only works in paint. No joke.

So paste it in paint, save it to the format you want then open that in photoshop.

Paint says "Error getting the Clipboard Data!"

Other images paste into it fine, and I'd swear print screen definitely used to work with Photoshop.

I've always been able to paste into Photoshop, Win7 64 at the moment, but on XP and 98 before that. I just go to open new document and it automatically sets a pixel size equivalent to the size of the clipboard image. It then just pastes into that.

I've not tried this in a while - but ctrl-prtscr - will save a bit map image to the hard disk - not very convenient, but might be worth trying it.

Yeah, i've always been able to paste a print screen into any image package I have used - mainly photoshop, gimp or still my favourite (because it is the only one I actually really know how to use) psp7.
