The ref gave a few extra fouls to the portuguese, but he is not the one who forced England to play 8-1-1 in the second half :p

And the goal was a foul, you are only biased if you think it wasn't.

No matter how crap an offence might be there's really a huge chance to concede a goal if you just play behind the center for 45 minutes. The defenders WILL do a mistake at some point.

Ericsson mostly to blame imo, he has helped England work more as a team but he has an obsession with defense that is becoming silly. You would think he would have learnt something from the game with the French.

And Beckham ofc, such penalty skills :p But he had to lose that penalty, a good player's career almost guarantees 100% that at some point you will lose a penalty that will cost your national team the qualification :p

Oh, and James ofc, he played a horrible game imo. Bring back Seaman from reitrement to play at 42!

Twas intentional, hence 'hurted' as a pose to 'hurt'.

The reason for said comment, is that I couldn't quite work out why he was injured, just looked like his boot came off to me.

The reason the boot came off was he had his ankle stood on whilst running and pulled his foot away for the next step, pulling off his boot.

That ref deserves to get cancer or be hit by a bus for the amount of grief that he has caused England's players and fans. If I read in the newspaper tomorrow that he had been ran over I would have a big grin on my face. It'd be well deserved.

yus, 12players > 11 players

Kk, the fact the other English player (not Campbell, the other one i can't remember now, Terry i think) is holding the gk down is obviously irrelevant :p

And 13 players if you count Eusebio who without any particular reason was walking around the field half the match! :p

He didnt "hold him down" the only thing that would of been a foul was by Campbell on Terry tbh which of course cant happen. Even the linesman said it was a goal how the hell the ref could call that from where he was standing I dont know.

Yep it was, because Terry had jumped before the goalkeeper even thought about going for the ball. The goalkeeper walked underneath Terry while he was in the air. Plus there's the fact that the goalkeeper didn't even fall over or show signs of it being a foul until Campbell was half way up the pitch celebrating what SHOULD have been our winning goal.

Blocking the gk from moving/jumping or even touching him in the 'small area' (don't really know how you call it in England :p) is a foul whatever the case is. You just can't touch him in there. It's against the rule. And i didn't see anyone complaining about cancelling the goal either.

Are you BLIND? None of the players come into contact with the keeper untill he jumps into them, lands, and forgets to use the muscles in his legs to support himself!

Umm.. ok. The idea is that we complain about it so that the same thing doesn't happen again, to any team.

You're right dude, I think its against the law actually. Though I'm pretty sure no one was touching him in his 'small area'. :p

At the end of the days, its just football. As painful as it was to lose, it was actually an enjoyable match to watch.

The point is that they don't do a foul by actively pushing him down, but by not allowing him to jump up at the point they are standing. That's what i mean holding down. This is not allowed. Only way to score there is to allow the gk to jump and jump higher than him.

It was his own fault for trying to jump up underneath them. They were in the air before there was any contact, and they can hardly mvoe over a bit once they've already jumped.

...hmm well I enjoyed it Dill, I guess I cared less about winning though, I dont usually watch football.

well how would complaining effect a split second decision? he was obviously to far away to notice what was happening. yes this as you all say was his fault. now it was a very close match and if he let the goal stand the game would be over.. in all honesty imho it made for a better match. although i can imagine the distressed english fans are just blaming the referees blunder for there loss. heh who flew the ball sky high on the first penalty?:)

Whatever anyway, everyone will have his opinion about the rules and their interpretation and i think it was a foul.

Now let's focus more on the comical side of it, like Eusebio yelling at the portuguese gk while he is trying to concentrate to block the penalties :p

...and that mysterious portugese woman who was crying at the start of the game, and was then shown 3 more times, and every time she was still in tears...

Mr Swiss boy if you want to show your extreme lack of inteligence and stereo type English football fans (not the wankers that riot and stuff, imo they arent football fans) i could say all the swiss are lame cowards who were to scared to stand up to the nazis or i could call them all mobsters for banking so much dirty money, but i wont as its not fair.

As for the Europe thing the public of the UK didnt get a vote on us becoming part of the superstate (which afaik germany wanted at the start of the last century and are finally managing to get) we voted to join a common trading market. We dont want to be part of Europe and we wont stay part of Europe

The fact remains that if the ref wasn't so shit (I'm reading other forums right now and even Italians and Americans agree that it was a goal) there would not have been penalties and Beckham would not have missed one. We would've been in the semi-final. We should've been in the semi-final.

Not with 8-1-1!

I was praying that England would win the match half the time because i thought of all the wajn for the ref but then again at least we won't be forced to see another 1-0 game with a team playing like it's the last 30 secs of the game for the last 60 mins actually.

Tbh bring back the good old England with crossings and headers all the time! Every team is playing the ball low with lots of passes, we need England to play like the old time trying to send it high looking for the head of the heroic attacker who will jump through 5 defenders to get it and score!
