lol Sockstuff :)

"Xtro" is a shit 80's sci-fi film. Its fkin awful.

I first started messing about in online gaming with C&C: Red Alert, very ropey Duke Nukem and...Quakeworld (FTW!) back in the mid 90s. I used various nicks in my QW and Q2 days, all of them shit (not that this is much better) until I started playing Tribes in about '98. I started to play Tribes SHITLOADS and thought id get clanned up and all that crap so needed a permanent nick.

Someone once said that any nick beginning with X or Z is more memorable, and the first thing that popped into my head was Xtro, as I vaguely remembered the shite film. Since then Ive used it in UT, and other FPS and a lot of MMO's but stopped using it last year sometime. Apart from here and a WoW forum I go by another nick :$.

I havent been here much for the past year or so - lo btw :)

lo Sean you old crusteh :)

Christ, cannot believe I have not replied to this thread (did a quick scan and could'nt see me in it) so I think it is time to resurrect it.

My original name was The.DBs (The Dogs Bollox) as I thought I was great at online gaming specifically QuakeWorld. Then it became DBs as I grew to dislike the "The." part of it. Everyone who used to speak my online name pronounced it Deebs so I decided to take that as my online name and has been ever since.

Mines from Rambo. I only joined FH because of DAOC where I pretty much only soloed. Me vs the noobs. Rambo's call sign was Raven. Raven was taken in DAOC so my main character was Ravenbourne in game.

My WoW nicks are just random shit I think of, Sylvaa, Astaa etc

I bought a burger at an offroading event and a huge Rotweiler sat next to me staring at it, so I started feeding it and someone shouted 'he's feeding Bigjob, which was the dogs name, so Bigjob stuck with me and my first DAOC char was Jobbiger.

Started out with me using the IRC nickname of Osiris for some years, then got fed up with having to fight for my nickname (Undernet didn't offer the possibility of registering your nickname), so I had to be original. Shortened it, and replaced the I with Y.

Some people still call me by my nickname irl, it sounds like "Oh-sea". The old part is from the BW - FH migration.

I had Keyser Soze in DAOC but people kept telling me I stole the name from a guy that spelt it differently. So mainly I played Soze Keaton Kobayashi Hockney all from my Poster that was sat over my desk at the time.

Needed a name for my warrior in DAoC, was reading LoTR at the time. Helm Hammerhand sounded pretty awesome I thought(remember I was 13 at the time) but since I was making a female version... I added an e at the end.

The end?

Was reading the Belgarion books when I needed to pick a name for my char in UO. Variation of one of the characters...
Haven't used it for any game since, but it stuck for forums.

I made it up. As a kid at the local arcade place I wanted a 3 character nick that was quick to enter by pressing up or down into the high scores so Z.A were quickest obviously, and I just went from there.

i got mine from infant school, our regular teacher was off sick for a bit and the replacement who also turned out to be the only male teacher in that school was total sci-fi nut. instead of reading our real name he decided to give us cool names using a few letters from our first names and surnames mine was Yaka. i was 5 at the time and my reading skills and few other kids were none existent, he pretty much improved our reading by bringing in comics like the beano and dandy and also began to read to us some sci-books. he was cool

Wow, finally worked out that eksdee was cunt in random characters.

Haha. No, my online nick is miri(eth) which came from the DAoC name generator. eksdee is xD 'phonetiscised'. My old account, mirieth, got banned (ironically) for calling someone a cunt. :D

had it since i was 6 or 7 years and theacer spilled coffee over the class register. the only 4 letters in this order were visable from my name. i was lucky i guess one of the other kids was called out as bint.

One or both of these is a lie... In 6 years, we may get a new version of the truth.

I swear I did.

I know what you're alluding to there :) Yes I'm very aware it's similar to that and a few other cultural entities actually but all were well before or well after my time of "pick an online nick". Frankly I've wanted to change it for years but because of a certain infamy and a certain IRC network I run it's waaaay to late to change now :p

Not sure if I replied to this thread, but my ex girlfriends mum used to refer to me as "Big G", I'm also referred to as "G".
