News Oil prices soar again

$135 a barrel now, that equates to about an extra 3p a litre at the pump. They reckon we could hit $200 a barrel in the next 18 months which would leave us all paying £8-9 a gallon. That will drive food and goods prices through the roof and cripple many familes.

I think the working class are in for a very tough time unless the govt. act quickly.

It also has to scare a lot of fuckin people. These prices have over doubled since like 2 years ago - and we are not even hitting the tip of the iceberg in terms of supplies.

The prices themselves aren't the problem.

The problem is the issue of privitisation (sp?) and minimal govt. support coupled with standards of living increasing past the increased wage rates.

In my opinion, govt. needs to regulate essentials such as food, gas, electricity more. As it is now - the cost price increases MAINLY get passed straight onto the public in order for companies to enjoy high rates of profits. This will be the trend until either those companies go bust (which if so, puts us all in the shitter) or govt. interaction takes place.

Depends on the angle and person. I doubt it'll effect me too much, maybe in some travel "minor inconvinience", but all the brits are used to that daily with their trains

If you want wheels you pay the price
Alternatives: get one of those cars that run on duck feathers, or walk / cycle / use public transport everywhere.

I can suggest learning to ride a motorbike. Costs a damn sight cheaper than filling up a car, you don't get stuck in traffic jams, ok the storage is only what you can carry in your backpack / bike pouches, and you're exposed to the elements, but hey, there are altneratives. Not always practical, but prices are going up. End of the day, put up and pay, or do something else.

They got motorists by the short n curlies. And they aint gonna let go without a fight.

I said, that it wouldn't effect me in any big way. Wouldn't change the matter if i lived in the UK or not if my situation was the same.

I believe they will be, but as i said, thats a personal opinion/look at things. Some think problems are bigger then others.
