How hard is it to grasp that after 4-5 years or whatever, running around roleplaying outside TNN, leveling up new characters, crafting for fun, and running around solving quests and fighting mobs ain't all that much of a joy anymore and that there are other aspects of the game that are what makes the game enjoyable for you to play? Like competing at high level pvp? Where the competition is ever changing and you have to adapt to the ever changing group setups and playstyles, and being part of a competitive community. It's blatantly naive to think that people would run around on level 16 chars and do quests together in grey armor roleplaying after so many years of playing the game. Some people actually want a different game experience after so many years, instead of the doing same old stuff, because the same old stuff is not what it used to be. So maybe you ought to wake up to that reality?

Who's talking about level 16 chars with grey con armour and roleplaying?

Aint this the RvR forum?

It's the attitude that came with it that's been the problem, not the playstyle. How hard is it to grasp you don't HAVE to be a **** to enjoy 8v8?

Fair enough, but need I remind you that the exact same thing can be said about the opposite camp of players? I would also like to add that there is a common generalization and prejudice against FG-vs-FG oriented players, making FGvsFG people automatically labeled as elitist pricks.

Aye but it certainly feels that anyone known to be involved in 8v8 is negatively labelled as exemplified by Starwind. Its happened to me a few times certainly.

Check out the English speaking server numbers guys, the elitest attitude is one of the reasons why this game will slowly fade away. The random, occasional gamer is being forced out and away from the rvr aspect. I don't think I am the only one who has recently cancelled my European subs.

Read the post "dude".. i said the elite attitude is "one" of the reasons that game is in decline. The damage done by the elitest(pro) gamer is a done deal. People are now so pissed off with the English European servers that many people have jumped ship. How many times have you been running in rvr with some elite group shouting "DONT ADD FFS" etc.

There is only so much of that sorta crap the random player can take before they go onto the subscription page and cancel the Subs.

U are SOOOO wrong, its the zerg part that gets on ur nerve, not losing a close and fun fight but getting outskilled by 100s of "random" who just goes out of there way for 20 rps vs less numbers.

Ive ofc as most here been a part of both sides u dont start as fg v fg player but i play to win, like i do in all games and sports, i dont play just to participate(spelling). When i play say fotball i want to win the match im never ever happy with a loss. So when i play daoc in my spare time i strive to be as good as the game my time my skill lets me. And no i dont think im the best daocer ever cause frankly im not but atleast i try to be as good as i can.

If more ppl did im sure there would be more fg v fg eletist pricks cause that type of gameplay is 100000 times more fun. No there is no other way around it even if u are a zergling adding roleplayer(pun intended) the close and long fights are the best, not winning in 10 secs vs fewer or crappier opponents.

EDIT

In other words, each part is 'suffering' as much as the other.

This is all very amusing. Not long ago it was a broad general conception that the so called pro-gamer, fg vs fg community, or whatever you categorized it as, playerbase was a small minority of players of little significance. Now it is this small minority and their so called attitude which are the direct cause of the player decline on the server. Have you made up your mind yet?

If you think server decline is a fact due to one factor, like full groups yelling "dont add", then I am sorry to announce that you are one very naive and ignorant person.

Moreover, every time the innocent poor nice guy casual player gets portrayed as a god damn saint. Funny thing is that these player's playstyle is often way more self-centered and careless than the more hardcore players.

actualy i have NEVER been in a grp or ran into a grp that have screamed dont add, simply because i from the start dont wanna ruin the fun of the 2 grps fighting and i tend to grp with likeminded ppl...

and u have won ! the casual "random" (as u like to call them/urself) can now roam free on ze bridges waiting on the next attack from the grps that dare go outside their own areas, ohhh wait they left, damn nvm u can sit around and do nothing then...

but as i said in the other post, the "leet" kids have left, the dmg is done excuse is bollocks it have done nothing ! u can now login without the fear of some of the 8vs8 crew logging in and going agramon to destroy ur fun !

Hmm...

Regarding the elitist vs zergs, or different rvr types.

Im wondering about the ones arguing that the game is made in a certain way and there is no room for any other playstyle...

Thats just rediculous in my opinion.
Except for the confused 8vs8 groups that think its okay to go to a Zerg area and then demand a no adding policy (Irvr areas/bridges etc)...it IS the zergers that are trying to enforce their way upon those who want to play in another way. Simply because they argue that its okay for them to follow the non adding crowed when they are trying to move away from others playstyle. The game area is big enough for all types, unless some go out of their way to try to enforce their way upon others. (ie. Zergers going to agramon to add, or fgs going to Irvr/bridges to have fg fights. Or soloers going to bridges/irvr-/fg areas and try to argue that they want 1 vs 1)

Basically if all stay out of the other playtypes way all can have fun and all can get their moneys worth.

Then someone might argue: But there arent enough fgs at agramon, where am I to hunt? Well if so there just isnt enough people who want to play like you so you either log, or adjust and enjoy the zerg area without trying to justify fg vs fg.

OR

A zerger may say: but I get more rps if I go to a solo area and chain zerg soloers, well then you are a the moron who ruins others fun, because you are trying to enforce your playstyle on someone who want nothing to do with it.

I know this is hard to uphold on a server with such low population as it is on english cluster atm, but if you cant find enough of your own type of preference without ruining the playing experience for others, your choice is simple, move to another server. (Well ofc you can choose to play like an idiot like Horner etc, but then you do deserve to chain killed by all and be called a moron in RL, because you are interfering with others RL (yes DaoC is real life, it is real time spent, and it is valuable time spent, hence it is RL as any other past time enjoyment would be.)

Be it 1 vs 1 or 8 vs 8, u ruin the fun for those people, while they dont ruin shit for you. I agree with that - it cuts both ways. I know there are plenty of "zergers" who can be tossers aswell just because people prefer fg fights.

Afaik Agramon was pretty much left alone by the vast majority of zergers (many of use actively made a point of leaving it alone). Correct me if I'm wrong but I'd put money on far more fg'ers going to zerg areas than vice versa. The bad name that fg'ers got was largely because of the abuse they would give people that "added" in areas that were close to the zergs - usually justifying it by claiming they were nowhere near, when in fact they were clearly in the rat run between port and zerg fights. One thing that has been different in the last 3 weeks is that travelling to and from zerg fights there are no longer fgs looking for "fair fights" by picking off easy targets en route. Yes I know they haven't been playing on the server but it demonstrates the point about one of the reasons the negative view of them developed.

Engage brain then post. Unless the limit of your thinking is the little bunch of pixels you see on your screen. The average zerger doesn't know one group from the next. We don't know if that fight in front of us is between 2 groups of like minded people simply out for their fair fights or 2 random groups of people. In fact, if they are in front of us then the assumption is that they can't be looking for "fair" fights else they wouldn't be loitering round the f*cking zerg. I'd say that's pretty bloody obvious. So once again, contrary to your own little egotistical view of the world, we aren't doing it to piss you off or because we are selfish. We are just playing the game as we do, as we've always done. Now if you were smart you wouldn't be f*cking around on the edge of the zerg in the first place - you'd be in Agramon. But that would require you to engage your brain - something which you've regularly demonstrated over the years isn't your strong point. Actually, why DO you regularly hang round the edge of the zergs? Was that something to do with the rps you mentioned?

Incidentally, to a hardcore roleplayer how people talked and what clothes they wore WOULD affect their enjoyment. But again you'd need to follow the logic and walk around in someone else's shoes to understand it the implication of that. Which brings me neatly back to something which isn't your strong point.

I think I mentioned 1 vs 1 aswell, or its hard to see if they are fighting eachother or not? The grps I been running in always tried to move away from the zerg, and roam areas where other fg´s roam, u prolly wouldnt know that though. However, there are random stealthers adding there too (if its at say insta-rvr area). If mids have berk port for example, we rarely roam between berk and beno, but south of berk and hope other fg´s do the same (ideally they would go to agramon, and personally I hate insta-rvr since it drags people away from there) but grps, stealthers, casters etc add there too. I also challenge u to find 1 screenshot of me abusing someone else not running in a fg for adding. I really dont care much if randoms add, since as u said, sometimes they dont know better, I guess my post isnt directed to average joe, its more towards people that know what they are doing and that still add, they are the ones that piss me off. If a random rr3 that rvr´s 2 times a week adds its just tough luck, I doubt I would whine at him. But we both know there are also people that can judge the situation well, and that even run in fg´s that dont want adds, that still add like hell when they are solo. Those are the people I directed my post at, but I wrote it as if it was to everyone, my bad.

And Manisch, please release another keyboardmovie, your first was lots of fun to watch, I still havent seen a worse player, that merc from US is a distant second compared to u :D

I've never seen you this low before bracken, all you do is posting about other people's intelligence or brain capacity.

Well done at proving your point! You're hell of alot smarter than the people who enjoy a different aspect of the game than you.

They are ruining your fun because they are playing the game as they always have done while you have made the game into something "more". The fact YOU decided to make this game into something more than it was than when you first bought it is YOUR choice. Therefore if you regard someone doing something they've been doing for the last 5 years as ruining your fun then the problem is with YOU, not them. Like I said before, it's the classic attitude of the emotionally challenged egocentric.

Incidentally, if a bunch of people suddenly decided that their "fun" was to talk in Old English and wear bright green would they have the right to bitch at anyone who ruined their fun by talking "normally" to them and wearing black? Your argument is based on exactly the same logic - you've made your own playstyle and anyone who doesn't go along with it is a "retard".

So here's the bottom line. We are not going to stop how we play because you, and those like you, are emotionally incapable of accepting being "added on". We don't care if we are crap at this computer game - it doesn't matter to us one jot. However, it obviously matters to you as you spend a great deal of your time coming to these boards to tell us (remember this is the server that you made a big song and dance about leaving). You are clearly someone who gives this computer game far too much importance. Let's face it man, you're really just a f*cking nerd hiding behind his pc making himself feel better by dishing out the shit with anonymity :)

I agree...

Thats what I call "confused" fgers...

My post went out to all types of rvrers to stay away from eachother.

My argument wasnt against the zergs, it was against those who argue that the game is created to be played in one way. (which some posts ive seen here seem to argue)

And I also made points towards all types of playstyles that try to interfere with others playstyle, when the area we have to rvr in is big enough to stay away from eachother...

I find it equally laugable when fgs/solo go to an Irvr area complain about adds. Or fgs leaving agramon to pass bridges killing off soloers...then trying to argue that they do it because those solers would add on them in a fg they might get.

Its easy, if you like FG vs FG then stay in an area far away from any zerg/soloers.

If you like solo fights stay in an area far away from any duos/casters/fgs/zergs.

If you like zergs: Dont go and ruin the fun for the other types when they DO move away from your zerg areas. Enjoy the zerg areas.
