hello? Earth to Escape? there is a BIG difference between telling someone how to protect your property and to tell them how to bypass other peoples security system ... I know it's far fetched and you can't really compare real-life stuff to a game, but have you ever wondered why (for example on TV) they (police, other "authorities") tell you how to make your home safe but don't give you a step-by-step instruction list (so to speak) of how to break in your neighbors home?

Take this scenario: For a few weeks people have been going into Volcanus and encountering a bugged SoM statue. Worse still, some people have camped SoM all night, it spawns, they call over friends and go to start the encounter, but... there's no cloak on the statue.

So how would you solve this?


Alot of break-ins happen because people leave their windows/doors open. Or they leave mobiles/laptops in their car. There're add campaigns to stop this from happening. A petty thief might be inspired by these adds, but the overall effect will reduce crime. People become wiser and don't give theives the chance. Porting away with the SoM isn't a high-tech hack, it's on a level with small time crime, so I don't know where your computer security systems came from.

Any idiot could've thought of porting away anyway, and Tears wasn't the first one ever mentioning it. If someone uses that info to steal som then whine at the guy going off with som rather than whining at Tears actually saying something to try n inform people. I never even read the coc myself and couldn't care less about it. The rules used by actual players make a lot more sense imo, surely I'm not the only one believing so ;/

To be honest, I'm a bit sad I started playing this game so late. Never made it to any of the old Sidi raids and never really got a first hand impression of Flesh beside some PL groups which were fun. But he's an easy target for a quip, keen as he is of verbal assaults.

Ok so maybe it wasnt well thought out to ask people not to port with the cloak, and i could have worded that post better.

But...

If you start the encounter by porting, then return and complete it by getting the sphynx killed then i cant see how anyone can have a problem with that - but porting out then logging and parking your scout at the encounter and telling people "someone ported with the cloak, best kill the sphynx to reset" is really pathetic, and thats why im pissed off here.

Chrystina made a perfectly valid point. There was no need (Escape and Araudry) to get upset about the fact that he wasn't directly attacking sko with blind fury and instead had chosen to look at things from a different angle. No one disputes that sko is a fool but that doesn't mean every single person has to keep saying it all of the time. Furthermore Tears may just have let the cat out of the bag with regards to another way of griefing people - that isn't a personal insult just an observation of what has happend. Tears does seem to be more pleasant these days so lets not go provoking an argument between him and a member of TLW when there doesn't need to be one.

PS. This post in no way detracts from the fact that sko is a lying, dissembling thief.

You're talking about "get to know" me. Well I don't know you, and you don't know me. You're assuming all kinds of shit and all I can tell you is that you're wrong.

Reason I called you greedy is cause you went head over heel for an item, the encounter was started by me, and sure I messed up a bit while completing it as I've said before, my friend got delayed. You not accepting this and going on about what a thief I am can only mean you're just pissed cause you didn't get it for yourself hence greedy.

You have openly admitted porting out with the cloak on one occasion in this thread already.

Add this to your hostile replies in this thread and people will add 2 and 2 together..

You place yourself directly on the line seperating right and wrong (grey areas of the CoC), and then wonder why people assume it's you doing "wrong" things.

The bottom line is, however, taking the cloak via porting out is not against the CoC. But just because your actions are "right" in your eyes and "acceptable because the encounter is bugged" in the eyes of the CoC, others will view them very differently. It is somewhat ironic that you act in this manner and then cry on the forum that the world is against you.
