I'm no expert but I think as long as your br player can do 8x it can put out a 4k signal. the problem then lies in the fact that you need HDMI 2.0 output and input sockets as 1.4a can't handle a 4k signal.
so worth checking out what connections any new model has as last time I looked there was only a Panasonic tv that had HDMI 2.0 but apparently the screen was a bit shit.

3k by 1.4k only using the Display Port :( would need a set of graphics cards.

Edit \o/ my SLI'd EVGA GTX780 has a Display Port Output.

Son's Birthday on 21st just got him a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Multimode Ultrabook. Originally was going for a Asus Taichi but heard some negative feedback regarding cracks in the Mirror Screen.

Replacement for his Surface 1 for his school work during GCSE years. 5499 DHS with 2 year full replacement Warranty. Took a look at it last night and it has a really nice display 3200 x 1800. It is the 8Gb, i74500U, 256Gb SSDD.

I have the QC 3's - On Ear version which I use all the time. Had my original pair for 4 years before the ear cups and lead needed replacement. Took them to a Bose store in Anaheim and the replacements parts were going to cost 60 USD, they gave me a brand new replacement set for 80 USD. Standard practice and excellent service imo :).

Switching bulbs to LEDs around the house now that they're financially viable and of quality brightness - I must say, the Osram 6.5W GU10 "50w equivalent" I've picked up is excellent.

I've been looking at LIFX bulbs:

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/lifx-17-w-wi-fi-led-intelligent-light-bulb-edison-screw-a84nl

Similar to the Phillips Hue - WiFi controlled bulbs that can be dimmed via a smartphone and the ability to change the colour to virtually anything. 17w at maximum brightness and a whopping 1000+ lumens each.

£80 per bulb though.... will take a few years for the efficiency to pay off. Still very tempted to splash.

I have 6 LED downlights (Megaman bulbs, really wide angle) in my living room, they're fantastic little things. Controlled by one of these:

http://www.downlightsdirect.co.uk/switches-and-sockets/dimmer-switches/varilight-eclique.html

I also have 4 normal halogen downlights in my kitchen, controlled by a LightwaveRF dimmer. Now ordinarily, I'd have replaced them with LED units by now. But they're about 12 years old, and not one of them has blown. I reckon that's because they've always been on a dimmer switch with soft on/off. It's the rapid turn on phase that kills most bulbs (they always pop when you flick the switch).

The downside of the LightwaveRF gear is that it's no good for LED bulbs. The idiots.

Been reading a lot about LightwaveRF, that would be a much cheaper and flexible solution if they were compatible with LEDs, and from what I read, that ability is coming soon?

Hopefully so, although they've taken so fucking long I wonder what the problem is. It's technically easy to solve, so you have to consider the possibility that they're just a badly-run company.

I love my LIFX, but as I've said previously, a good investment for the future, and to encourage development.
For just standard LCD's I use www.energysavingled.com who are brilliant and have excellent service and returns if any problems.

Any regrets on the cost? My arsehole is twitchy at eighty queen's heads for one bulb.

It's not a case of "can't afford it", it's getting my head around the long term financial sense that I will illuminate a whole living room for many years with an absolute maximum of 34w (they'll be dimmed to around 75% probably, so ~20w to ~24w) - that's going to be a huge saving based on a handful of halogens that'll be in the region of 150w+ at least (not to mention the WiFi and colouring capability).

Pressed the button, got one from Maplin yesterday for £79.99.

Wow - what a superb bulb, the reviewers weren't exaggerating when they said it was very bright. Excellent light output, love the ability to warm or cool the white tones. I don't think I'll use the colours much, but nice to have I guess.

80 quid for a fucking light bulb? Have you gone mad?

They are very expensive for "just a bulb" on paper, but like most energy efficient things, the initial outlay can be eyewatering (electric cars, solar panels, wind turbines, LED bulbs). Over the course of a few years, it will pay for itself and I am expecting to get up to 25 years lifespan out it. A good quality wireless dimmer will set you back around £30 (although you can pay up to £60 for a Lutron dimmer) and a quality 100w equivalent dimmable 1000+ lumen LED bulb will skin you a good £30. Also - once you buy "warm white" then you're stuck with that colour temperature - the LIFX bulbs can be varied from warm white to very cool white depending on your preference.

You pay a premium for the built in WiFi capability, but the ability to create lighting profiles on your smart phone and have complete control of colour temperature and brightness is worth it.

...sigh. So now every time I move house I can expect all the lightbulbs to be gone when I move in. Bloody technology.

I'm afraid so, I move out in a week and will be taking all the LED units with me, but I've kept the 60w incandescent bulbs from when I moved in and will be fitting those in their place :).

And then find that they have put a different bulb connectors that your bulbs will fit ie a bayonet fitting where you have screw ins.

Yup.
You can also buy some hardwire cables if you know what you're doing or your garage does.

So @ECA do they have expandable memory? And what's the max capacity? (I'm a lazy cunt)

You can buy it with internal memory or use an sd card instead - sd card is easier to get data off imo, so I didn't get it with internal memory.

I'm not sure what the max capacity is, but it supports looping ( as any dashcam should ), so really any 8gb or above card is probably plenty.

They definitely support 32gb, dunno if they support 64 or not ( have a spare one somewhere, can test when it arrives ).
