Or any other brand someone likes...

Person 1: "I don't like Apple"
Person 2: "You're wrong"
Person 1: "But..."
Person 2: "WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG"
Person 3: "I like Sony"

ME: *close tech forum tab*

This. A thousand times this. I'll never understand attachment to brands for their own sake. I can kind of see why you might rate companies based on service, but even then I've never found any company that's great all the time, and there are whole industries (like telecoms) where I can't remember the last time I had a good experience. So when it comes to phones, my brand loyalty is pretty much, "whatever I like the look of at the time".

What immediately struck me about that is that the draw distance in FC2 is more suited to a PC game whereas the draw distance in FC3 was horrid. Utterly horrid. You could tell it was so close purely for the consoles.

it is horrid. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's a console backport to pc (it may well be, I didn't check). it's laggy and tbh it's older brother FC2 is -imo- prettier. even on my beast of a computer (I run all settings maxed out, and the game automagically went to DX11) there's noticable input delay. I wonder if they fixed it for Blood Dragon or I should perhaps drop down to DX10? anyone know?

Blood Dragon

You won't care. You'll be too busy wryly smiling.

It's not a long game, just as the joke is wearing thin it finishes with a flurry, makes you laugh out loud and ends... :)

What the hell are you going to do with all that?!
The 8 other 4tb Reds I already had in my media server were getting lonely (and full). Hopefully this will be set now and, any failures aside, I won't be needing to buy any HDDs for a good while.

I'm well pleased with the 4k video on my Note 3 to be honest. It's probably not up to the level of yours (what sort of bitrate does yours capture at?) but it's one of the only things keeping me in Touchwiz, I don't think CM can do 4k video yet. The detail is incredible, zooming in and looking around while it's playing you see stuff you didn't even notice when you filmed it.

Oh well I spoke too soon, the rear camera has died completely. I'm taking it back to the shop tomorrow for a replacement unit. If they insist on a repair rather than replacement, I'm within the 7-day cooling off period so I'll just take my business elsewhere.

Swapped it for a new one this morning.

It's funny how you're slagging Sony off. My last phone, a [flagship] HTC One X, had the following problems:

1) Yellow colour at the right side of the display
2) Pressing hard on the left side distorted the display
3) Home button not properly lit
4) Poor bluetooth connection
5) GPS antenna weak
6) Wifi antenna weak

The last two, I had to repair three times by taking the phone apart and prising the antenna connectors apart with a small screwdriver.

The iPhone 5 is my worst built phone. Paint scratched off it, yellowing down both edges of the screen, home button broke twice (all within a few months of ownership).

I have to say despite my S4 feeling like a plastic piece of crap its actually pretty well made. Zero screen scratches due to the gorilla glass and the plastic sides and back are scratch free too, which frankly amazes me. I dropped it the other day, about 4 foot and thought the worst but luckily it landed flat on its back.

My mate's S3 has a dirty big crack down the middle thanks to him dropping his about a week after getting it, he always destroys phones though. Once he even managed to dunk one in a pint of coke while lying on the sofa.

My last two Samsungs have been pretty bomb-proof tbh. The micro-USB port (annoyingly it's the port itself and not the charger plug) is a bit loose on my old GS2 so you have to have it just so when you charge it but apart from that it's spotless. My Note 3 forgot all of my wireless networks again a few days ago, which annoys the shit out of me but physically, it's in great shape.

I have a Vinyl on the back of my iPhone to stop the scratches. It is still blemish free despite a few drops. I dropped it last week after finishing ruling over my kingdom and it whacked off the bowl and thankfully fell outside not in.

Only Sony I've had to send back was my old X10, which was a SonyEricsson anyway :p Using the GPS used to overheat the phone and cause it to reset itself, a couple of colleagues' HTC Desires were doing the same thing, so sounds like it was a common component fault. My Xperia S is still going strong after 2 years of being dropped, battered, drowned and generally abused. Only reason it isn't still in daily use is the missus has had a Z1 Compact (lovely little phone) and has given me her SP, which is also a cracking phone, and will do nicely until work sort me out a Z2.

Pretty sure the only other phone I've ever sent back was my works iPhone 4. The home button was knackered, the touchscreen a bit dodgy and it wouldn't sync my iTunes for love nor money. I sent it back and didn't ask them to replace it.

Out of interest Raven, which Xperia was it that you had that has given you such an irrational dislike of Sony handsets?

I have no feeling about Sony...except they are generally over priced for no real reason (probably why they are struggling to turn a profit)

Most of the last few generations of phones have been pretty much identical and tbh, who the fuck cares what lump of plastic you use to phone people...does it actually matter?

Funny to chuck a line in now and again though. Some people get so agitated when you comment on their favorite lump of plastic and metal.

iPad Air. I got a broken iPad from work that we were told to dispose of. I called Apple and said it had been smashed to pieces. As it is 7 months old for £100 they will upgrade me to an iPad Air with a new warranty. 32gb iPad Air for £100 and a trip to Lakeside. I will make £200 selling that no problem :)
