it will but you can only have one connection to the server, it wont let you connect multiple times for segmented download.

I used the IE downloader thats how confident I was

And it worked, just can't play it cos theres no servers

It also was corrupt on the overnight download I did.. god damn it.

Im giving up and getting someone I know who has already downloaded it to split the file and burn it to CD...

I really dont know whats up with the download though. It cranks up the installer, unpacks all the files then gives me an I/O error 'probably due to corrupt files'

There is a Planetside beta phase 1 CD on usegroups if that help any, RAR'd and PAR'd .. I assume it will patch you up to the latest version if you install it.

EDIT: alt.binaries.cd.image

I can put the latest beta on my FTP if anyone needs it, but its only DSL so you wont get more than 30kps anyway But I can RAR/PAR it or something ..

Wow that wasn't worth the wait.

Nice buggy crash-o-rama this evening. I think Markov has reached critical mass at 3100 players as I can't join it anymore. Crashed about 15 times tonight and had several buttons stop working, usually important ones like reload or fire :/

Hope they realise that they've got 2 weeks to sort this stuff out.

The last 2 days servers have been down in the day US time...so thats the evening here :/

They've been coming back up about 1-2am sod that. Anyway they said they would deliberately maxing out the servers to stress them as much as possible for a bit, makes sense as release is coming.

As for crashing, I've not had a single crash to desktop sorry m8...

Runs fine for me, just been merrily sniping, err I mean working from home (waves to boss ).

/edit: oh there's been a few moans about this latest patch (went on yesterday) so its not just you cask whos havin probs m8.

There's an interesting comparison of the firepower of the various faction's MAXs here.

If you want to get BR (and hence certs) fast then your best bet looks like the TR AI MAX.

For fun value the VS AI MAX is probably best although if you're anything like me then you will die a lot

If you're clinically insane and enjoy firing projectiles that a sleeping wombat could avoid then the VS AV MAX is for you

Basically if you want to blitz your way through the rankings so you can get the certs then TR is probably the one for you. For "hell let's just have a blast" people it's VS. Dunno enough about NC to say who'd like them - every time I'm on they seem to be the ones losing....

I've kinda drifted back to wanting to play an inf. I'm sure I'll have changed my mind by the time the game is released, but for now sneaking and hacking seems good. I was put off by the fact that everyone will have darklight, but it seems they added an icon to people using darklight in the latest patch.
