media player progress bar wont track

no idea what causes this, the little blue bar along the bottom wont move, though the timer is correct, very annoying. happened on a few but not all dvds.

any ideas?
does it on pc with various codex etc, installed
and does it on laptop that is plain vanilla win 7 64bit

and dont like VLC

i have fixed it.. had to stop the wmp networking thing , and delete the library so it can rebuild

To be fair I don't like VLC either - just as a quick go-to media player, Media Player Classic Home Cinema is my choice. I have VLC installed but only for when I need to do something fancy like on-the-fly rotation.
