A decent steak has far more nutritional value than a McMeal.

I'd still rather have a huge bag of scratchings :)

Whilst also costing a bomb load more.

not that much tbh. £4 for a good sirloin from the butchers, add £2 for spuds + veg. About £10 for two people. i thought a mcmeal is like £5 now? Even though you get a drink too but replace the soda with a glass of water.

Value for money for quality food at butchers comes in unfashionable meats. A shoulder of mutton costs next to nothing compared to a nice bit of lamb. Doesnt taste quite as nice but its still good quality produce.

Depends what you do with it. Cook it well and its pretty nice.

I get the vast majority of my meat from the butcher, its pretty cheap.

Best part of £10 for a Mcshit for 2. With £10 I can cook a Beef Wellington for 2 (for example) home grown veg on the side. If I could be arsed I would go and pick the mushrooms too. Though I do cheat and buy ready roll pastry, I can't do proper pastry to save my life.

I doubt the average person who frequents mcdonalds can cook all that well

McDonald's makes a handy lunch for me as it's just around the corner from work. No time to cook there.

Also, the family and I sometimes drop in there after popping into Halifax on a Saturday morning. We're not going to go home and start cooking then either since we're too hungry :)

Meh, people get to hung up on the calories and being fat. Take Access denied as an example, his bowels must be fucking horrific. As for healthy food being boring? Sounds like a man addicted to the caffeine and sugar in his coke and additives in his food to me.

Also, Leggy came back ages ago you mongs; he just doesn't post that often :)

Clown also said he might be back, as he can't remember why he left.

Say you go for 'dinner' on the way home from work at McD's - 15 minutes or so (or perhaps more) waiting in the queue to get your food, plus the added journey time to go there (unless it is literally on your route home), I'd say the majority of people with any respectable level of proficiency in the kitchen - aka anybody but students who live on pot noodles :p - could cook up a far more nutritious meal than you would ever get in McD's or any other fast food chain.

I do a lot of the cooking at home and we almost always eat from fresh, I finish work at 5pm, drive 30mins home, and always have dinner on the table by 6.15pm when I cook. Obviously sometimes you just cba, but the idea of living off fast food because you just don't want to make the effort to cook seems insane considering the implications to your health/well being.

Not that I'm suggesting you personally are like that, just in general. :p

Anyone comapring a McD meal(price and effort vise), should do so by comparing an actual homemade burger meal instead of beef this and that.

So get some meat, buns, tomato, salad, mayo, whatnot you like in your mcD.

Then some fries(or taters to slice as fries) and a bottle of coke.

Now go home, prepare the meat, heat up the buns, slice and dice all the veggies, add the mayos and ketchups, fry up the fries and stack your burger.

Then have yourself a coke, a smile and shut the f'ck up :p

Its surprisingly easy to cook something healthy in 20-30 minutes. My biggest problem is that I generally won't sit down to eat until after 8PM, which isn't really ideal, but its better than stopping off at the chipper.

One weird plus about living in Ireland is that the quality of fresh food (if not the variety) is generally better than the UK, and the quality of fast food is generally worse, so ticking the healthy eating box is an easier choice to make.

Leggy! What the fuck, where have you been?

Freddy's misses your brutal in-the-face honesty.

Hey G, I missed freddy too.

It's funny - I only realised that I hadn't posted in years and thought I'd take a peek to see who was still about. I'm glad to see most of the good'ns are still prolifically posting :)
