I think the other levels will become MP over time. The lobby system does blow donkey balls, fixing it as a priority doesn't look to be on the horizon though :(

Oh and personally, weapons is a no... its refreshing to have a game where they don't stumble across rocket launchers in the Zompocalypse

The other two campaigns will be available for VS mode this month. There's also a new mode coming out with that update where the survivors are in a lighthouse with endless waves of zombies attacking, the goal being to see how long you can survive. I quite happy with the weapons as they are, but I did have an idea for an addition. A combat knife that you find where you'd find molotovs or pipes but very rarely, like 10-20% of the time. It takes up a molly or pipe spot in your inventory so you can't keep both and it's a one time use get out of snare card. Basically if you're pounced or tongued, you can stab the hunter in the face or cut yourself free from the tongue. Once it's used it's destroyed and the chance of getting another is very low. Could add another tactic to the game, use my knife or risk the health loss waiting for rescue.

As for the lobby system - I've found it quite decent since a few recent patches. Originally it was total balls but seems to be good now. That said, a few of my L4D buddies don't have a tremendously good time with it. Keep in mind, as Mabs said further up, you can enable the standard server browser if you don't like the quickfind jobby.

The lobby system is still not right but you are correct, it's much improved since launch.

The knife is a nice idea but I think it would ruin the gameplay. In reality it is very easy to escape from being trapped.

I'm actually unsure why they didn't just add a server lobby like CSS or TF2, they're good enough, instead they add some feeble excuse for a game finder.

Hopefully it won't be too long before the expansion pack comes out with the new game mode and vs levels best of all its free love to see Valve are keeping their content free unlike other companies like Besthda.

I heard it was the 21st of this month or thereabouts so not long now. Plus I think the SDK comes with it too so custom maps inbound! The Dawn of the Dead '04 shopping mall is apparently almost completely done, just needs to be converted to L4D source when the SDK comes out. Exciting!

Nice update. Managed 14 minutes on the terminal level but the rest have been more around 5-7. Very difficult which is exactly what I was hoping; too many games go soft to appeal to a wider audience, glad to see Valve aren't going down the same route :)

Found a nice command to avoid the crap lobby system which plagues the game.

Open console, type 'openserverbrowser', go to custom and voila, all info about each custom server type. Go for ones without cheats enabled (most don't), low ping and the game you want :)

Enjoying survival so far; managed 46 minutes on the no mercy garage level which almost destroyed my hand... generally a good addition to the game although I can survival mode dying out after a month sadly. As for the versus levels, very fun :)

Survival will only last if they put up a global leaderboard so people can go "ah, you're shit, my time is better"

I actually like that the only leaderboard is among friends - makes things the right kind of competitive.

Undead thread alert!

Ok so I bought this game a month ago (for the xbox360 btw) and so far playing online has proven difficult, for some reason I keep losing my connection but only with this game, everything else I play is fine. It seems to be effecting my rep because I'm getting a lot of left early comments. Any idea what's wrong?

Is it still worth shelling out the £27 for this now with the sequel coming out in a few months?

Not really. If valve are the same as ever they'll probably do a bundle.

I'll read that when I'm on a bigger screen (and not at work).

Wish they'd bring out more DLC rather than comics tho. However, to be fair I've not played L4D2 in over a month 'cause of this shitty job, so whatever they do is fine :)

Versus FTW. It's got a long long loooooong learning curve.

I'd pretty much stopped playing battlefield in about two weeks and started booting L4D up again. More to it, tbfh, despite having a more tightly defined route, no weapon unlocks etc.

The greatness comes from those who play it. (Although that does make it prone to the perils of ragequitters).
