Bodhi said:Anyway, for sheer "couldn't look at any other car in its presence even if I tried" appeal, there is a new king in my book.

nath said:Interestingly enough, I saw one of them passing a Bentley GT the other day - the Bentley caught my eye more. Not saying I'd rather have it, but for some reason it just made me gawp a bit more.
nath said:I was willing to accept that I was wrong since I'm not often good with car names. However, I googled the continental GT and it looked nothing like it.
I saw this except in black. As far as I can make out, that's a Bentley GT. Happy to accept otherwise - don't really care. The point being, it grabbed my eye more than the lambo.
A bonnet big enough to ram all but HGV's off the road?nath said:Not sure I like it but it has something.
Bodhi said:Oh and a list of sports cars I've driven. <snip>
BMW M3 Evo (E36) Rapid, handled pretty well (great for powerslides), steering felt wrong tho, wasn't entirely sure if it was connected to the front wheels.
Lancia Delta Integrale - Don't have enough room to explain just how good this car is. If I ever buy a classic car, it will be one of these.
Mazda RX-7 - Liked the rotary engine, but like most Japanese performance cars, rest was instantly forgettable. Handled well tho.
BMW 840Ci - great tourer, crap sports car.
Oh yeah and a Golf VR6 as well. I think that's where the Golf bug started (prefer my 16v tho, almost as quick and less weight in the nose, dives into bends much faster).
There was a 911 there as well but they wouldn't let me near that, can't say I blamed them. But instead of a go in that one of Michelin's test drivers took me out round the banked oval at their test facilities in Clermont-Ferrand without touching the steering wheel. I was impressed.
<snip>
So basically I think I know what I'm talking about.
Bodhi said:I don't think you did somehow, the R-GT isn't road legal. And there's loads of Conti GT's round my way I think they look horribly bland and lardy. Not a fan at all.
DaGaffer said:You've got some nice track day experience, but you haven't driven any distance in these cars. I've driven loads of sports cars over distances (968 to France, TVR-S around Wales, 944 from San Diego to Vegas, XK8 from LA to San Diego, Westfield to Le Mans, and these are the ones that weren't my own) and I stand by what I said; air-con is good if you actually want to go anywhere, and if you're not bothered about going anywhere and just want to tool around at track days, why get a repmobile?
Bodhi said:The CSL is hardly a repmobile tho, even if the car it's based on is. If it's a repmobile, then the Evo 8 is a bland Japanese box and the Integrale is a flaky Italian shopping trolley. In the same way they're effectively rally cars for the road, the CSL is a saloon racer for the road. You wouldn't call a 3 series Touring car a repmobile now would you?
Skyler said:I see what gaffer is getting at with the repmobile comment. The M3/M3 CSL do lack in the looks department
Bodhi said:Do they bollocks. Both are sex on wheels. Seriously if you mistake an M3 for a standard 3-series you're an utter tard and shouldn't be allowed an opinion on all things automotive.
Bodhi said:Want to know the performance car that's lacking most in the looks department? Step forward Nissan, for designing your Skyline mainly with rulers you are the weakest link in car design. You didn't need to prove it with the old 200SX Touring tho, we already got the point.
nath said:I think the R34 looks alright actually, though perhaps not as good as a car of its calibre should look - the previous models look totally bland though.
DaGaffer said:See what I mean about subjective? I've always really liked the R34. And Nissan car design has moved on since then; 350Z, G35, FX45 - all stunning.
Bodhi said:350Z is nice yeah. The other two are blobs which look like every other Japanese car ever.
nath said:Hmm, imo the G35 looks like a bland 350z and the FX45? Well it's an SUV :\
