According to the PAYE tax people??

Got a weird letter from the PAYE section in Cardiff that they understand I was declared bankrupt in May and their changing my tax code to no tax.

First I thought some scammer had been at work pretending to be me but a quick check of the Insolvency register shows I'm not on it - phew :p

Then I notice the last digit on the National Insurance number is an A and mines D so it seems my tax records have been mixed up with someone who has gone bankrupt??

Cant get through on their helpline which rather helpfully cuts you off when theres a queue :p

<sigh> Looks like this will keep me busy for a while...

Ring the Revenue first thing in the morning, or during lunch times when professionals aren't calling them. Alternatively you could be a little naughty and ring the agents dedicated line.

I think its scammers - they must have gotten my details from one of the many stolen govt databases like the child benefit one that was lost.

No-one has contacted the work payroll who have my correct NI number so I shall file it in the bin.

checked your credit score ? made sure thats not been affected ... might be worth it rather than just filing it in the bin

My credit rating is still excellent - no dodgy loans or anything I dont know about - it looks like a pure fishing exercise trying to get more info to use.
