Think I might go to the Vodafone shop tomorrow and get one. The battery is starting to suck on my Nexus One too.

How much for your Nexus Tomlar? The wife finally wants a smart phone.

I'll probably keep it Trem, if its replacement breaks or is stolen I'll need something to use as a backup.

Which is probably why I have about 5 phones in a drawer downstairs, all gathering dust with dead batteries :( Have a look at the Expansys link above though, they sell phones off the shelf.

Make sure you handle the One X before buying it.

The 4.7" phones feel too big for me, 4.3" ftw!

I used a One X all weekend and the weight for the size is remarkable. My Radar has a metal uni-body and feels like a brick. But it was too large for my tastes too.

Just got one. Jesus Christ almighty this is one sexeh phone. The case is gorgeous.

Trem I noticed a bunch of cheap £100 phones in the shop so maybe I don't need a backup, but if you still want this Nexus One have a look around at what you want to pay and make me an offer. I can post pics, the screen is pristine, the edges of the phone have the usual minor dents here and there, nothing major. It's lived in a soft case all it's life. I also have the proper Nexus One Car Dock if you're interested in that too.

Oh bear in mind the reasons why I've upgraded Trem. Low internal memory mainly, but if I'm honest the old touchscreen bug has been annoying me lately. And after two years the battery life is down a bit.

Batteries aren't dear though are they luv? The internal memory is not an issue for Samm, she just wants a phone where her mates won't take the piss out of her :D

Let me go have a look and see what they go for, don't wanna spend loads so lets see.

It was bought from Google direct so is unlocked. It has a quote from a Pink Floyd song laser engraved on the back though :)

Has anyone played around with an S3 yet? How does it compare to the S2?

Apparently we will be getting some s3's on Monday, the customer they are for means I will not get to do much playing though :( I have read some reviews suggesting that the One X is the more polished product this time round.

I've played with the one x and although it is lovely, custom rom's and customising mean it does not matter how polished the s3 is at launch.

I've decided on the S3 because wife has an S2 (back to back file transfers), screen size is nicely big and most importantly has a microSD slot.
Now I'm pricing up the best deals available so I can call up O2 and ask for my PAC. Let's see if their retentions department can match or beat these deals. I expect at a minimum the phone for free. A discount on the tariff would be nice, but we'll see how far they'll let me push them.

Current examples of deals.
Three has the phone for free, 2000mins + 5000 3-to-3 mins, 5000 text, unlimited data for £34/month x24.
Vodafone has the phone for £29, 600mins, unlimited text, 1GB data for £36/month x24.
T-Mobile has the phone for £49, 2000mins, unlimited Tmob + text + data for £36/month x24.
O2 has the phone for £99, unlimited mins and text, 1GB for £36/month x24
Orange has the phone for £50 on Panther 36, 600mins, unlimited text, 1GB data for £36/month x 24 (inc. 2 swappables that don't eat data allowance) (£50 credit back after 4th month)

CPW have the phone for free on a £28/month contract but the mins and data are piddling. You can get the same deals as the ones above, but you also get a 32GB microSD card, Invisishield screen protector and car charger.
P4U have the phone for free from £31 upwards but you get a 32GB card and Samsung case.

I have just gone for a 4s, widgets do not bother me they just piss me off. Seeing as apps tend to be cross platform they are no important. And the iPhone is the size I like best. I might end up looking silly if the 5 comes out next month but seeing as it has not cost me anything but overtime I am not too worried.

Well bloody hell!
O2 couldn't price-match. I told them about the Three deal and asked if they could at least waive the handset cost. The answer was no they couldn't. They could reduce the tariff to £31/month and the handset price would be £169, reduced to £140 for being an existing customer. I said that *increases* the upfront cost where I'm trying to reduce it and he said that was the best he could do. I asked to be put through to retentions and he replied "This *IS* retentions". I gave up and said "Just give me my PAC then please".

So I have a PAC and I'm a free-agent for a Galaxy S3. Apart from the deals I mentioned before, does anyone have any particular plus or minus points for any other networks?

Stick clear of Orange if you tether they have introduced a £1.79 a day charge for it. I have had to fight my bill twice in two months to get rid of £70 charges.

Do you have to go contract?

Eg. Giffgaff (you top up online each month)

- Unlimited Texts
- Unlimited Internet
- Calls: 250 mins (£10), 400 mins (£15), 800 mins (£20), 1500 mins (£25).

I popped into the local 3 store to get a PAYG SIM to try the signal around where I live.
While I was there, I saw one of the staff playing with an S3 and they let me have a couple of minutes play.
It's fast. Very VERY fast. Gmaps is smooth as glass zooming in and out, rotating and everything. Music volume seemed clear and decent. The visuals aren't bad and the screen doesn't seem to be overwhelming hypercolour like the S2 does.

Unfortunately 3 have a signal outside the house, but borderline 1 bar in the house meaning I can't start a call without losing signal.
That leaves me with O2 or Orange (O2 have a decent signal, and Orange has UMA).
Given that CPW have their pre-order offer and the ability to change network in the first 2 weeks, sounds like I'll be visiting them tomorrow.

I'd be interested to see how clear the screen is in bright sunshine. The S2 isn't great on that front. Thats where a physical keyboard or uber speech recognition/control is useful.

Hi Fast,
Thank you for ordering your Samsung Galaxy SIII. Due to manufacturing issues there is currently a shortage of Samsung Galaxy SIII handsets and Samsung has released the following statement:
"Samsung's GALAXY S III Pebble Blue version comes with a newly invented blue colour and special hyper-glaze material.
“In order to meet the highest internal quality standards and to provide the best quality GALAXY S III to customers, a short supply of Pebble Blue version is expected in some regions in the next 2-3 weeks.

“Samsung is working hard to ensure that customers will get the Pebble Blue coloured devices as soon as possible."
As soon as stock of this handset arrives we will dispatch it for free next working day delivery and email you to let you know it is on its way.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Kind Regards,
Buymobilephones.net

Spoke to them, apparently all the pebble blue's were recalled, something to do with a faulty seal. Like I care what colour it is. It was the only colour the website offered, just bring it ><

Had a play with one and found myself thoroughly whelmed. Blazing fast, but the case is ugly as sin, the screen isn't as sharp as on my Xperia S and TouchWiz is gash. Seemed to make sense if you are lacking in the trouser department and need the fastest phone in the universe to make up for it, however I am struggling to see a compelling reason to buy one.

*awaits predictable Sony fanboy comments*

/waves his white GS3 around. :);):)

It's big. It's fast. It's pretty much what I expected. I didn't even know there was a H+ until I saw it driving through town today.
The one thing that caught me out was the lack of panels like Sense has. Beautiful Widgets sorted me out in that regard.

My only worry is how well I will get along with TouchWiz. Apart from that i'm expecting a significant upgrade from my old Desire.

Set up 20 of them this week and I hate the sight of them now :)

They are fast and the screen is pretty but for me it is too big and I am glad I went for the 4s instead. If the size is not an issue then it will make a great phone.
