I think it looks excellent. It's about as good (technologically) as a phone can get at the moment so the specs were pretty much as expected. I don't see how you can make the screen any bigger and still call it a phone. I don't know what the Note is all about, it like Samsung was trying to "do an Apple" and create a solution for a problem that didn't exist.

On the tablet front, I do quite like the look of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Anyone got any idea how much it's likely to cost?

Lamp - I have a Note at the moment and love it lots. However, i'd like to switch to a OneX - drop me a PM if you'd consider a swapsies or buying it 2nd hand. As new condition, case, box etc etc.

The S3 has just leapfrogged the OneX in my "next phone" list.

[*]Samsung Galaxy S3
[*]HTC One X
[*]Asus Padfone + tablet

The main thing that bought it for me? Internal storage *AND* micro SD card slot.

*AND* 50gb dropbox space!

Not a huge fan of the S3's case design tbh. I can't upgrade from my S2 until July next year anyway, at which stage the S4 should have just been released.

Plus phones are getting stupidly large in size now, my S2 is about the biggest I feel comfortable using, so something with a ~5 inch screen is just going to start getting into mini-tablet territory :/

Screen size was a big no for me too. We have a few One X's here in work and I can not get on with the size of them, I hope the new iPhone keeps the 3.5 inch screen.

See for me 3½ inch is absolutely tiny. The S2's screen is the max of what I'd be comfortable using, but smaller than that and you start getting crammed for space, so about 4½ inches is the sweet spot for me personally.

And that'll get quoted out of context at some point, I'm sure :D

Well that's a crapload of "meh". The eye tracking thing looks quite neat, but cannot make up for how freaking ugly it is. Seriously, Samsung's designers need a slap. I shall more than happily stick with the SXS and wait til later in the year for Xperia Mint til I think about changing.

Almost as surprising as the oh-so-predictable Sony fanboy comments.

Samdung fanboy :p

Yeah the design is a bit... round. By the sounds of it Samsung have gone a bit ladi-da and "natural" with their whole philosophy behind the S3. I love the styling of the S2 - nice small-radius corners and flat edges all round.

Hmm...not too keen on the HTC OneX personally. Lack of an SD slot, the camera not being flush with the back of the case, the gadget required to open the sim card tray, and customers complaining about a flickering screen and laggy screen transitions.

Trouble is, round corners and a rectangular design with a screen full of icons = Apple lawsuits.

I don't know why but something in my brain is being triggered that makes it think it looks cheap.

Well, everyone said the S2 was cheap & plasticy, and to be honest, the back cover is a flimsy cheap bit of crap, but the overall feel of the S2 in the hand is really lightweight. Any feeling of cheapness is washed away by its awesome performance IMHO.

Anyway, you can bet your bottom dollar it'll go for 5-600 quid SIM free.

I have just ordered an S2, £21.50 a month, 300 minutes, unlimited texts, 500mb internet. I will just root it and put ICS on if need be but I have looked at my mates and it is as large as I want to go. Cba with dear contracts anymore.

Hi Trem, thats really expensive for a year old phone. Think you should cancel that, sure we can find you a much better deal than that.

Did you get cashback via quidco or topcashback on that too?

No mate I didn't :/

It seemed cheap to me, Three offer a lesser deal for £25 a month. I got it through Tesco mobile but the provider is O2.

it's not that cheap... unless its a 12 month contract? Have a quick search online and look at the cash back offers/

Well I'm not sure what to do now. I was going to get a Galaxy Nexus but apparently the camera is a bit pants (I use the camera all the time). A HTC One X seems nice but I prefer the pure Google OS, which also rules against the SGS3 (which despite what everyone is saying is still a fucking good phone).

Only reason I want to upgrade is because my Nexus One keeps running out of RAM.

Maybe stick with what you have for a few months & see what comes out later in the year.

Bloke in work has a G Nexus and was talking about camera issues that were resolved by an update, not sure if it is the same issue but it might be worth checking.

The HTC X has a CM9 build for it already. It wont be long until its a perfect build. Stock Google and fancy HTC in one :)

I would but I'm so sick and tired of running out of internal memory the phone has to go. It was fine two years ago but every forced app (Facebook, Amazon, etc) has just got bigger and bigger, and there's bugger all I can do to stop it.

What's the cheapest this is out there for sim free? I've only seen it for £500, which I'm not prepared to pay.

It's still new so the price hasn't had time to start coming down yet.
If you're that bothered, check eBay. The first result on a search for 'HTC One X' was a £420 buy it now.
