Looking at the rather grey history of Game.Net ("Let's play") I recon the domain just expired conveniently...

Clearly it ain't always been a part of this wonderful company, so I'm curious, who paid who for it & how much? Closest guess wins "ability to be smug for a bit"?

are you talkin about the domain name or barrysworld itself? if your talkin about barrysworld, i think i remember seeing it on public domain somwhere, as GAME has to account for all its dealings to its shareholders, as its a PLC.

If your talkin about the domain, i reckon if it was quite a bit, the company would not flinch, as they seem to have money to throw at a high court case because they were upset at having to pay EB inc of USA 1% of their turnover. (long story, if you want a full explanation, please ask) so the lawyers couldnt come cheap.

There wouldn't have been anything legal involved. The USA EB and the UK EB thing was entirely separate from this.

Game, being a word, and the fact that the previous owners of Game.net were using it for their own legitimate purpose means that there is no legal case.

As I say, I recon it expired :p

nooooo, i meant it for comparison purposes. IE if game werent bothered about spending squillions on corporate lawyers to try and wriggle out of an old contract with the old mothership, they wouldnt be bothered about spending squillions on a domain name.

Mind you, an expiry is alot more likely, as GAME like to do alot of things on the cheap (allegedly) when it suits them, so i agree with your point.

Your drivel makes me close this thread as I don't wish to read anymore.
