No doubt that for EU based action German is superior in 8v8 but theres more or less alot of reasons for people going to US.

-Friends there
-English speaking (my reason), i tried German servers with 2 50's there and didn't enjoy my time there trying grasp the meaning of things, not knowing anyone was the killer, this was when it was just Temair though.
-Not 6 patches behind (enjoy your server crumble under doppels ).
-Euro Primetime is decent for all forms of action as it hits 1100'ish round that time so the action would already be steadily going from then.
-There is still another round on clustering left whilst German is on its final run, when the two US cluster combine the pop will be around the 2400 figure (1750 devon/600-650killi), and that is not counting on any other who are waiting on a cluster resubbing, which is an awful lot. Even then mythic have the options for more in the forms of New OF(updated version on pend).
-No GoA
-The mass of the US player base is about 40% EU/JPN, this means at euro time there is a few 8v8's out (albeit not as good as german 8v8 but still), and the more you get on there is regularly 8-10 grps out each night(11pm GMT+1) so for a random put together group, US is ideal for them rather then dumping into the German side where most likely get rolled and rolled, giving up and quiting, and for the early morning euro's you get the bonuses then of catching the late night Americans, so its a 24hr server.

Plus its there choice, german is mostly alot of long setup groups there whilst what is on US isnt so in a sense it is a more competitive (not a more skillful) environment as total noobs can enter there and compete.

Anyways who cares, it there person's choice as to what they wish to do, for me US suited as noone i played Excal grps with is still around in DAOC so for a bit of casual play it was perfect.
