Yeah, bankers can fkup billions and never get a jail sentence, but if you setup an "illegal" site (copyright, wikileaks) you'll get 4 years or more.

Also - I particularly love the police's long-time policy of coming under cover of darkness. I understand the practicalities of pre-dawn raids on drug dealers etc, but coming to arrest a guy who everybody knows is locked inside an embassy in the middle of the night, rather than in the day, is simple harassment.
They wanted him to get the fuck out of bed, rather than coming at a more civilised hour.

You know there isn't even an arrest warrant for him in sweden, merely a request for interview which has been forced through shady wording in an eu international warrant treaty?
Also the girls involves were both bragging about sleeping with him on twitter and text messages afterwards and telling their friends how wonderful he was - until they found out he was sleeping with them both?
He's also offered to be interviewed by video link or answer any written questions but sweden has refused to accept this.
Oh and the first swedish prosecutor this went to, basically dismissed it, so they found another one :/

Equador have said that the UK and Sweden refused to give guarantees that Assange would not be extradited to another country and that he would only face the legal process in Sweden.
They also sought assurances from the US that they would not attempt to extradite from Sweden - which weren't forthcoming.
This is cut-and-dried oppression IMO.

The moment we breach the Vienna Convention in any way, shape or form we total fuck our own security services operating from our embassies abroad right in the arse by making them fair game. The Yanks are pressuring us to go in but it will be a total disaster for Britain if we do. Arresting him inside the embassy or at the airport when he will likely be under diplomatic immunity will make no difference, it will breach Vienna and there will be a price for us to pay.

Yes and you lot whining like a bunch of school girls and trying to expand the case isn't going to change my opinion that this is nothing more than an extradition case in terms of our legal system, when it comes to that he has lost on many levels and has run off to hide in the embassy of his questionable fair weather friend. I personally don't agree with doing anything to gain access to the embassy but then I don't think have to because no matter what happens he isn't going to actually be able to escape from the UK very easily, plus if the US really wants him then it'll just be a matter of time.

They need only appoint him as a diplomatic courier or U.N. representative, he can legally walk out under his own steam and if we try to arrest him under diplomatic papers we start a shitstorm that will see our own security services abroad and diplomatic staff snapped up off the streets in less friendly countries.

He's wanted for questioning about a possible rape accusation that a judge had already thrown out as without merit, but a replacement judge re-instated. He's not been charged and they are refusing to come and question him - as has been offered.
