But you still have to make a conscious decision to buy those mags.
Then why not make a concious (and completely ineffective) decision to block porn, rather than implement as-standard censorship?
In itself the above question is kind of pointless. Kids who want access to porn can and will get it - no problem and regardless of any block.
So, lets ask the serious question:
Why bother?
It's not as if the past 20 years of freely available porn has resulted in social collapse has it?
As far as I can see the average 25 year old has a much more enlightened view of sex than those of us growing up in the 70's and 80's - where porn was a *much* bigger deal - because of it's scarcity: Girls who enjoy sex are no longer seen as sluts or slags, lads who previously wouldn't be getting much are now getting loads. As humans we're much more free and easy with our bodies.
It's my assertion that access to porn has had a beneficial effect on the sexual habits of the young in this country. They're less prudish, they're more open about it - in terms of talking about it and having it. Only the kids of the most horrible 18th-century parents have the hangups about sex that were commonplace not that long ago.
Watching porn has shown them that the things they like doing with their bodies to make themselves feel good, with a consentual partner (including acting out rape if that's what they're both in to), aren't that freaky and doesn't make them "bad people".
More unrestricted access to porn for all please. And better parenting and free discussion of sex with your children for christ's sake - which is where the problem really lies.
