I have a word document with pictures in it that I made by doing printscreens and then ctrl-v's directly into the document.

No some helpful twat has asked me to put the images into our wiki because he's a cock.

I can't get the pictures out of the document. There is no "save image as" option. if I drag the picture to the desktop it gets saved as something called "scrap" and I can do even less with it.

I needs the pictures because I don't want to go through the motions to get them yet again :/

Hmm, right click on the picture - copy, paste in to MSPaint and save as a jpeg?

actually no Yaka, because my company frowns on people installing software on their desktops to agument MS's shortcomings. Trust me, I'm glad enough they actually have PuTTY allowed, but allowing something like Open Office would prolly be pushing it :/

You are such a noob, a quick google revealed this:

Sorry for the delay in responding but I am not receiving notifications on this thread. Limbo I did as you suggested (save as web page) and it made no difference then I tried selecting the image by dragging the cursor over it as opposed to clicking on it and this worked.
I then tried using the same technique on the original document and this worked too. If I click on the image to select it it does not work but it does when I drag over it (beyond its boundaries).
Weird, but there must be some explanation.
I have never worked out why people like to put images in Word files, when they need to be extracted by others. Why not attach them to an email, put them on a disk or let me download them from an online location?
They do this becasue they don't know any better and some of them would not know how to do what you suggest. I find that it's easier just trying to deal with it myself because asking them to do something different can drag things out a bit.

It's from this old forum post somewhere on the depths of the net: Copying images from MS Word Documents

More suggestions here: http://www.gmayor.com/extract_images_from_word.htm

Blah blah blah google results blah blah: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=e...es+from+word+2007+documents&btnG=Search&meta=

You ARE SUCH A NOOB. Fail boy.

I have a word document with pictures in it that I made by doing printscreens and then ctrl-v's directly into the document.

Fail process is fail.

Printscreen
Paste into appropriate graphics application (gimp for you would seem appropriate, because you are one)
Save file to disk
Open word document
Insert -> Picture -> From File
Select the saved picture

Job done and you have word document and images should you ever need them for something else. Your fail process is the problem here, even M$ can't be blamed for that.
