If i made a video of portals for todays play it would be just keep takes. 8 keep takes, each taking less then 3minutes, max number of attackers 8, minimum done with 4. . . You would think the germans would have learnt but they didnt :D

Oh and desolution/Gandara are the new matchup for my realm... and my god desolution can zerg. Dont think i met a group of less then 40 of them yet! Not easy when was running with just 4 people :p

yep, they patched earlier and 30 minutes later they took it down for unscheduled maintenance..

So they fucked something up. :)

Get jobs yah bums!

Did 4 levels (64-68) last night in 30 mins crafting. Made myself a new set of armour in the process which was nice. Looks totally pimp now!

Levelling is fast even just PvE and crafting. Close to 50 on Necro and 22 on Ranger plus two other lowbies I was messing with. Not like DAOC old style. Not really done much WvW yet outside of Beta was going to give it a whirl over weekend. The PvE content is good and rewarding xp wise.

I've just grinded and down quests hah. Unless I'm missing a trick on crafting I've found it to be relatively slow.

Its all about the discoveries. Last night I setup myself with a massive amount of mats for two crafting levels. Popped a 50% xp booster and crafted solidly for about 35 mins.

Discovered about 15 pieces of armour and the crafting of the materials itself was worth over an level and a half.

Oooh, the WvW with he mesmer using portals got me tingling, still not sure whether to try the game out or just "pass" :)..

Sure has some potential to come close to daoc type of RvR from what I've seen though.

Has anyone managed to use the Trade Post properly yet? I've managed to sell something but can't buy anything.

It was working fine for me all yesterday and seemed OK this morning (only looked, didn't buy/sell). However I note a couple of tweets this afternoon about taking both TP and BLTC down for maintenance.

The Black Lion Trading Company is down for maintenance. ^RB

We have taken the Trading Post offline while we investigate further, thank you for your continued patience with this matter. ^AT

We are aware that the trading post is playing up a little and we are looking into it, thank you for your patience at this time :) ^AT

I took up cooking as it seemed to be something you could throw money. I previously had huntsman and leather worker but found I never had the bloods/nails/fangs etc which you use to make the "stat bonus" items. How do you guys craft so much?

i fell behind on my leatherworking so at 250 or so I was literally farming bats etc for hours. Jewelry was much easier for me, just roaming zones not hitting mobs etc just node hunting. Glad im 400 in both now and got it out the way with; will try and enjoy the game now :p

Indeed Chef and Jewelcrafter are the two crafting disciplines that don't seem to require Fine Crafting Ingredients. All the others seem to. So only take one other and combine it with Chef/JC. You can always go back and do another once you hit 400 in the initial two (and have made what you need to start with, remember it will take 40s to switch to a 400 crafting discipline).

I started with LW and Weaponsmith and dropped the latter due to the Fine Crafting Materials issue.

I never farmed anything. Everything I got was from killing mobs or gathering nodes.

If i gathered something I didn't use? I trade it with someone who did and got back stuff i needed from the trade.

When I used the TP i never used the Best Sell order. I always created a new buy order for the exact amount I wanted 1c over the current Best Bid. Which meant my orders got filled instantly and for 30-50% less than the current Best Ask price. You have to keep these orders small however as otherwise the prices start to creep up.

Also everything I made and didn't use myself i sold on the AH. So through a tiny bit of extra effort, i turned a profit, made it all alot easier for myself, got some good trading partners and got a load of levels.

Had 10 mins to play last night, went from 68 to 72 just crafting

Everything seems to sell for 1c above the merchant price and the listing price is 1c

It's worse than that. Elder Wood Logs vendor for 7c, so minimum listing is at 8c. Now the TP takes 5% up front as non-returnable listing fee, and another 10% if it sells.

So for a single log, and assuming round-down/truncation of amounts if you list a single Elder Wood Log at 8c (the minimum it will allow, and what 1700 odd people are doing for over 8 million logs) then you'll pay 1c list price, so are already down to the vendoring price, then if it sells you'll pay another 1c then, and only get 6c back, 1c under the vendoring price.

People are idiots. They're just trying to undercut everyone else until they've hit the floor of vendor price + 1c (you can't list on TP for under that).

Still, it does mean that if you vendor, rather than salvaging, some drops (in my case I only salvage light/medium for cloth/leather to LW with, vendor heavy armour and weapons), you easily make money to buy mats off the TP with. Heck, I'd be vendoring it all if I was confident TP would now stay up to buy cloth/leather from as well. Even Fine Crafting Materials, at least at tier4, go for 1-1.25s, and I can get that from better drops now, so it equates to 100% 'drop' of such when vendoring, rather than gamble on salvage.

The major exception will be using the very best (Black Lion) salvage kits on level 80 exotic (possibly rare too) items in the hopes of a Glob of Ectoplasm (high end crafting material), as they go for 20-25s on TP last I looked.

Economy seems horribly unbalanced (apart TP which will be an ongoing balance) anyway imo, due to drops rating (not all mobs actually drops even junk at least), too high repair costs and way too high teleport costs.
I'm perma broken and can't frigging buy my 20 traits Manual!!!! ;)

I've found an item that is listed for 1c above the merchant price and takes 7c listing price so people are actually loosing money doing this..

I was struggling until I switched to vendoring at least Heavy Armour and Weapons. I've gone from 2g to over 5g in a couple of days now. It also helped that I hit 80 trying to avoid completing Hearts and am now going back to do them and getting 2-2.5s for each, rather than ~1s I would have at 'appropriate' level.

In general though, yeah, the economic side seems a little broken. I'm rather angry at ANet for making WayPoint use costs scale with level. Cheapest I see at 80 is 1.39s when I'm maybe 100 yds away. Even if your gear doesn't break and need repair this does mean a substantial cost to dying. And forget me just porting straight down to Port Trinity for 75 PS stuff, I walk most of the way killing/gathering as I go for daily achievement progress.
