No one answered my question about skins - can you skin the cars in standard roadcar garb?

Yep, theres an abscene amount of car mods and completely new cars to mess about with. The actual community behind the game is quite huge.

And just FYI since calibrating wheel to perfect settings (grabbed a fellow players .plr (.ini file'ish)) and now whilst still not being great at game, wheel is an obstacle to learn still but im driving about with the biggest grin on my face EVER :D

Plus loads of tracks... Forgot that bit. Nurburgring is there :)

Omg nice - I thought there was 10 only?

And from looking at the official site - it seems the community crap is all based around the german version. That's not true right? Where does one find all these add ons - pics of nurburg plz!

I had a hellish time trying to keep the gas/brakes/gears nicely in sync with the steering Throddy mate. imo a joystick or wheel would be miles better. I'm slightly tempted to get a wheel now though: used to play NFS like a man posessed and this GTR lark seems quite good. if I could get a decent wheel bundled with the game I'd be on it in a flash :)

Indeed m8 I only played it with auto gearbox (gay) when I used the keyboard.
I expect a wheel would be better, but tbh the joystick is more than sufficient for me , enough buttons to change gear and brake etc :)

aye, once I worked out how to set the gears to auto I was okish. at least then I could actually make laps heh :) (and turned steering-assist, brakes-assist, traction-control full, abs full etc etc) for shame :)

I havent set up the Logitech Profiler, I think the program is considered rather shit but a guy from the RSC forums had these copied and pasted into his .plr settings. Try here.

Yeah I haven't really touched the profiler but what settings are you using in the 4.6 drivers for number of degrees from lock to lock and for FF strength?

Wuh? There's no full nurburg? :\

Yeah there is a full Nurburgring. The thing about the tracks is that it uses an old engine called ISI (i think) so basically all the games thatr use this (IE F1 series and more) by EA can rather easily be converted into GTR albeit with the same graphics from these older games. So while there is a FULL nurburgring (tried one last night and it IS fun) it looks very ancient and hasnt got the same lack of friction on track that makes GTR the huge amount of fun it is. I did a lap tho and its still good :) As far as im concerned anyway, its not the graphics that make this game the lovely thing it is, rather the control or lack of pummeling around the 10 already made tracks. Anything else is just a bonus and there ARE people working on a 'proper' nurburg and more as we speak.

And for those 'semi'-considering a wheel. Ive been a driving game fan for as long as i can remember with just a pad. If you REALLY like driving games and want that experience lifted tenfold get a decent wheel. My dfp has just elevated my fun by 10000s of %. Im not saying go out and buy the best damned wheel you can buy, get one with analogue steering and a gearbox n pedals and im sure youll have just as much fun, if anything the force feedback makes driving MUCH harder. But I dont care about winning as much as I did with my pad. Now its just for fun.

You're not using the 900 degree rotation on your DLP? I thought that was what made it so cool.

I'm using 540 atm, from what i can gather from that GTR forum doomy keeps posting it appears that around 500 is the sweet number. And Doomy please don't tell me you're still using 200 degrees rotation?

Well I think its 200' , the steering matches the ingame wheel. I might set it a little higher but its more than fine for me as it is (anymore and i believe my tft would come crashing down, desk is rattling enough as it is atm).

I read the sweet spot was 500'ish too but the thing is so damned accurate set that high i fear would be a little on the insane side seeing as I dont even drive IRL (Yet :) )

Anyway, Krazeh. I take it your enjoying the game as much as me?

I only have the demo atm but it's great fun, think part of my pay cheque will definitely be buyin me the full version.

And i'd very much recommend increasing the rotation from 200 degrees, felt far better driving with the increased range
