OMG! GET THIS FRIGGIN DAMNED GAME OF AWESOMENES!

6 hrs played, one track (Donington) in one car (Elise) trying to race but ending up hot lapping instead due to being shit scared of racing friend over IP.

Wrong forum maybe but who goes in Sim forum anymore.

Yup played it lots, mp is clunky and sucks though. Soften the front ARB on the Elise and then you'll actually be able to get the damn thing to turn in.

Well 2 players over IP worked beautifully just earlier...

How does it suck?

We play it through a car forum i'm on and never get more than half the people who want to play to connect at any one time. Annoying thing is it's not always the same people, sometimes it's seamless sometimes it just won't work at all.

I really wouldn't mind getting that game but the problem is it has starforce - I don't mind paying for the game but I don't want that shit installed on my pc :\

It did seem a little flaky, having to try maybe once or twice. But once connected its damned stable. Nothing a patch wont sort surely?

Just tried the demo again - this time with my FF steering wheel. God what an amazing game, just what I've been looking for - if only it had street races aswell as proper tracks.

Problem is, I could buy it but I know I'd get frustrated at how much I suck and never play it - that or I could never be bothered to plug in my wheel. When I tried the game on joypad, wasn't half as fun :\

I like games that make me wanna at least TRY and do a lap without coming off. Can manage it in elise now, Its just practice and severe concentration.

Buy it (starforce fucked norty copies up so far) and i will certainly atleast practice with ya :)

PS2 pad atm but im giving serious consideration to the MOMO logitech wheel. Only problem i have with pad (after setting a few turning deadzones in the sensitivity options) is that some of the more stupidly powered cars are impossible to accelerate in whilst turning. Gear 1,2 and 3 in the Lambo throws you off the track most the time with PS2 pad. IE want pedals.

I have only just had the chance to play this in the last few days. Have raced the AI a couple of times, rest of the time I've been practicing Barcelona (and Estoril briefly in preperation for MotoGP tomorrow :D) and occasionally racing over LAN. Got to be the best racing sim ever :) Using a Logitech MOMO racing wheel btw, it rocks :)

Ok heres a wierd on... I bought it!
Good fun, but christ its hard on, err hardest mode (cant remember name :) )
Im using a joystick to play it, but on that level applying the accelerator just spins the car ...

Yeah thats the thing about using a pad. Tho the buttons on the pad have 256 points of travel according to Sony (teehee spread over 3 mm depression if that) anything more than the elise in sim mode does kind of do that and things like hairpins need to be taken in 2nd gear if you dont want to swing car onto the grass..

Apparently the best wheel to get according to the unofficial GTR forums is the Logitech DFP (Despite the box advertising the MOMO logitech) but its about £80. I will be spending the moolah tho when I can. The game is totally impressive.

Would love a sub forum in Sims too, Game has a Motec interpreter which calculates averything your car has been doing on a race or lap, giving you gazillions of geeky graphs and very easy to swap hot laps etc and car setups. Heres hoping the game gets admired by a few more Freddies eh ? :p

I thought the DFP was PS2 only? or do you use the PS2 adapter for it and it works?

Ok petrol heads - anyone care to work out for me if I could somehow hook up an old PS 'Negcom' twistgrip controller and play this on the pc?

Might be a case for the Old Man to show you youngsters a thing or two if you can get that working ;)

PS2 convertor is all youll need. I presume its the one they tried to sell when Wipeout was around first?

They sell the adaptors in most gameshops now including Game for around £5-10

URL plz thx? All the sites that show the DFP seem to suggest it's PS/PS2 only.

ffs,

GTR demo keeps crashing for me - can't get it to work. The "press demo" worked ok but this new demo doesn't work. Installs fine, just doesn't load.

I think even the demo has that starforce crap - Try disabling any virtual drives etc.

Wrong forums ffs

Really, your all soooooo far behind its shocking ('sept Doomy, he rocks ;))

Really is a truely great game, you have to use a ff wheel though, with some decent pedals. A few hours with a decent wheel and your arms will be aching like Wij's after a power w**k :eek6:

hmmm,

i'll need a steering wheel i guess, keyboard is... fucking hopeless to put it bluntly; i can't control the car at all, it oversteers constantly and the back end keeps slamming into walls. I have to take corners in second gear really slowly or it just spins all the time.

Not impressed so far, but i guess i need a steering wheel as i say.

Been playing it a bit more with my wheel - god damn, arcade mode rules so much but semi-pro is just far too hard :\

Doomy - do all the cars come only in that lamey GT style paintwork or can you get them to look like normal road cars too? I think I'm gunna buy it tbh, it really is something special.

Ive been using a joystick, it plays great, well, great enough for my needs :)
Semi-pro is indeed hard, and the simulation is fucking hard :) I been playing the fastest arcade version with manual gearbox, its been a lot of fun .
I meant to go to bed at 11.30 last night, started playing this at 11, looked up it was 1 am :)
