I'm just doing the demo over and over - ordered the game and it should be here tomorrow. Bloody better be, I need more cars and tracks and a tougher arcade mode tbh (semi-pro on the demo is far too hard :\)

if you are thinking of getting a wheel (thats relatively cheap and easy to set up) i can recommend this one

been using it to play the demo and its pretty cool, im abit of a racing and wheel novice though so havent figure out how to sort out the buttons yet :p

been playing that demo and it rocks... kinda gotten hooked on driving games since NFSU2 :)

Yep Krazeh, certainly was a good suggestion 360 it is. Slightly less responsive but better handling.

Sure do - MS Sidewinder force feedback jobby - about 5 years old, been sitting collecting dust for the past 2. Whipped it out for the demo, and it's damn good with it. Unfortunately I can't convince myself to buy the DFP since I already have this, but can only imagine how much better it would be :)

Since the wheel I been getting a lot better, im still rubbish and I still nearly lost it on this lap but considering thats in a Gillet Vertigo on sim mode whilst using the sequential stick, that int too bad :)

Christ this game is *so* hard. I can't drive for more than 100m in sim mode without spinning out/fucking up my car. Arcade mode is pretty tough too - I've only tried using the Modena (and of course the storm/aero 8 in the demo) but it's going to take some time to get used to it.

edit:deleted moronic question. I r the blind.

Just click multiplayer and then register in game, should do the job, still buggy as hell though.

Buh, you confirmed my retardedness by making it clear what I asked. Otherwise people could have thought "well, nath is so remarkably intelligent that what he thinks is moronic is actually pretty clever! He's just being hard on himself". Now I just look like a tard :\

In these games it's rewarding just being able to string a decent amount of laps together :)
I haven't played online yet, still lapping barcelona. So many areas to improve on still.

Yeah, the review I read said something along those lines. I managed to get pretty damn good at arcade mode in the aero8 on spa - despite the fact that the other racers posed no challenge, it was so satisfying just getting a good line.

Unfortunately that's gone all to shit now - I can't drive for toffee :\

Got my MOMO wheel and gtr.

WOW!

I'm in sim mode in the elise atm. Posted a lap time of 1:49.

The force feedback is mind blowing. Try to push the car a bit to much around a corner and you can feel it loosing grip!

Love it!

Graphically speaking the track detail isn't amazing, but christ - the cars just look fantastic.

Yeah they do look gorgeous. I think the main bit about why GTR is so good is the way the cars handle tho.

Yeah totally.

Question: when driving in simulation mode do you use traction control and ABS or is that a totally "n00b" thing to do. Do the real GT racers use them?

Only thing I have on is Auto clutch. I really do reconmend jumping in at the deep end. Sim mode, despite being insanely hard is by far the most fun. As I said many times, I'm not racing yet, just trying out the cars on 3-4 different tracks and just hanging on for dear life. I think if you approach it like I have you will have more fun by far and progress to small races. Im a few weeks away from racing yet :p

LOL. Id be hardcore if I wasnt utter crap. I can put 3-4 laps together without coming off but thats because I try a teensy bit harder on each lap.

I do apologise :) I thought flipping to sim mode did it all for you. What I actually had was Stability enabled and Low Antilock Brakes and Traction control. Everything else tho was on 'hardcore' settings.

Its been changed tho to whats on my screenshot. Its a little bit more nails ( :( ) but just something I'll have to adjust to I guess. Its not TOO much different to how it was.

I'm thinking I'll keep the anti-lock brakes and the traction control seeing as a) I'm a novice and b) it's not like it's the computer game helping me out, I want realism and they're real driving aids. Perhaps if/when I get more hardcore I'll take them off. It's things like braking/steering/stability help and spin recovery that are *kinda* cheating :)

Btw don't suppose you know how to make it so that in arcade mode it's always set to manual gearbox? Everytime I load the game it keeps flicking back to auto :\
