I've read some reports from the beginning of the year of some problems in the latest versions of android and ac connections, mine just seems to drop a lot and then won't reconnect at times without restarting the phone.

Do you have a the avoid poor networks setting active? If you drop wifi signal it can block you AP for a short while.

Nope, although WiFi optimisation is active so I might untick that and see what happens.

My Note 3 spontaneously forgot all of my saved wifi password overnight once, which annoyed me no end.
