Like pretending you didn't vote for Brexit you're now pretending you're not going to vote Tory because "they're all shit".

Labour started the NHS. The NHS does great things. Tories will sell it off (as stated in the book "we're going to sell the NHS off and this is how we're going to do it" - by our health minister) and I don't want that to happen.

So, even if Labour = Incompetent, Labour still = Have an NHS (no matter how functioning, but frankly, they've saved the lives of people I know, so I'm of the opinion that it's a small price to pay).

The Tories have been in charge of the NHS for much longer than Labour now, and it still hasn't been sold off (outsourcing != privatisation), and Labour's record in charge of the NHS isn't exactly stellar (NHS Wales, mass privatisations in the 00's, Mid Staffs, etc etc) so I think it's incorrect to assume they will magically fix things.

Sadly at some point we are going to have a proper national conversation about the NHS - how it is funded, how it is used, what it covers etc. However as we cannot even currently do that about some nutters running round killing people, I suspect we're a long way off from that.

The obvious problem of the NHS is it's a sinkhole for cash, and as people last longer, needing more expensive treatments, add to that paying out pension payments longer, bigger gap between the generations...we need immigrants to fill the gap..or make people work till that are 80.
If we don't cure dementia, there's going to be millions sitting in expensive long term care, I don't think anything the Labour party could come up with will fix that, except borrow more money.
It just depends at what point the repayments outweigh the advantages.

Ah, your old narrative to make yourself feel better, you are an actual idiot.

I voted remain, now regret it.

I wont be voting Tory (undecided who atm but certainly not Tory)

Why I have to explain to someone who admits that they don't vote who I decide is beyond me though. Vote or take your opinions down the student union, where they also can't be arsed (statistically)

Labour are promising to spend more money we dont have.
The tories, since 2010, have borrowed more money than every labour government in history added together.

We still have a mahoosive defecit. Money doesn't work like you seem to think it does.

Edit: Still. Voting green :)

Because of the gross over spending they inherited ... so they have been reducing it but it was from a very high start.

Think about the maths of what you just said there...

Edit: Also, think about where all the money the tories borrowed has gone. They've borrowed *shitloads* and there's still a mahoosive defecit, wages have stagnated, services are cut and being cut more. So where did all this massive borrowing go? What single part of society has done amazingly, astonishingly, spectacularly well since the financial crash that almost "broke capitalism"?

Doesn't take long to figure it out.

So they started with say 10 bn a month over spend. And have reduced that to 5bn a month over 7 years.

Yes the overall amount owed is always going up but the amount they were in defecite each month was at record highs when they started reducing it in 2010.

So by 2017 they have had the most debt ever paid because they inherited a high start.

The over all defecite is a different number which is going up all the time unless we can start running a positivemonthly spend and start paying it off.

I think we were talking at cross purposes between monthly and yearly over spend and the total deficit which is at the moment always increasing

Think you are confusing the debt (how much we owe in total) and the deficit (how much we overspend every year). The deficit is now lower than it was in 2009 before the crash, the debt is still mental.

Judge 'em on their record. The Tories ARE in power and their "attractive to business" policies have led to crumbling underfunded public services, record levels of working poor on in-work benefits and the lowest growth rate in the G7

Just going to point out that in Feb 2017... before we triggered BREXIT, UK had the highest growth of the G7. Our growth forecasts have been continually downgraded since the BREXIT vote because of the impact it will have on our economy.

I don't know which party's policies will fix or help that, to be honest.

EDIT: Someone going to say 'wrong thread' ?:p

Dont think anyone can fix that until we are out and all the predicting and uncertainty end and we realise the future.

Red Jeremy is quite correct re police numbers. We all know Darklord May would prefer to just read everyone's texts, emails, chat groups and other internet activity and weed out the undesirables that way.

When did that happen?

Edit didnt realise there were more posts

@Job the UK has never defaulted on its debt in a traditional sense, so when did labour bankrupt the UK and go cap in hand to the saudis?

Speaking of Trump, I'm listening to Roger Waters' new album and he's letting rip on Trump. Not that Trump would ever listen to Pink Floyd or Waters.

She actually makes me quite angry at how someone so clearly medically stupid has got any where near politics. I know she represents a bunch of clueless hipsters but Jesus. She is a ticking time bomb, can you imagine her negotiating anything at all? I doubt she could get round in without fucking it up.

He went there, lets see Amber Rudd try and tell a priest to cut him off.

The Al Yamah Arms deals were originally signed back in Thatcher's time. The continued arms sales to Saudi Air Force and Army brings in big bucks to companies such as BAe, RR and Westland a vast majority of the 7Bn in arms sales were the Typhoon fighters, a collaboration between several EU countries, all parties (incl. Germany) had to sign off on that. The same industry is also responsible for around 140,000 jobs. Think he's just ensured those workers don't vote Labour.

They seem to be saying that those arms go to terrorists which is not correct at all. A vast majority of the weapons used by terrorists came from China and Russia. They were not passed on by the Saudi government. Whilst there are many issues with individuals in many ME Region countries supporting and funding, via charities, the terror groups it is not the governments. In UAE for instance the government has banned all but a few charities due to the issue of funds being diverted to these groups.

Personally I think they are barking up the wrong tree. Helping the Saudis deal with the Wahhabi's and other extremists groups would be money better spent. If we don't sell the arms US and France will. Not taking the money is a bit daft especially given the somewhat uncertain future of trade with EU.
