It's not, I'd go so far to say it's got even more impact since it's much wider reaching and actually contains world wide participation with the great unwashed who can actually call him on his shit in real time.

And my point is that it isn't as I watch and read a lot of news and not seens him in anything. Twitter is off my Radar as it is for a lot of people.
During the the EU leave campaign he was on TV most days. Now he is barely shown.

That is not main stream. Reaching millions is being in the spotlight. Reaching a few thousand is an extremely small footprint for a major politician.

Oh ffs! He can tweet a million times but if he is only reaching thousands of people it's hardly reaching anyone!
He used to be "speaking" to millions and has now gone to thousands.

Is that reaching out to the general public? No it's not it's reaching out to a small niche market.

Perhaps I should put it a different way.
If you were a company advertising on country wide TV with an audience of millions and you switched purely to twitter with an audience of a few hundred thousand do you think your sales would go up or down?
