Except he did, it was utter bullshit. This sort of thing happens quite a bit in our press - certain papers are often looking for things to write about to get our backs up. It often starts from poorly checked facts.

I'm trying to get some figures about it for both countries but its hard to without the figures including retired people which imo don't count. Tho you DO have a greater percentage of people below the "poverty line".

Back to the inventions issue, I know the Brits, via Lucas the Prince of Darkness, invented intermittent lighting in autos. I totally rebuilt a '60 Bugeye Sprite in high school. Before that I had never even SEEN cloth insulated wiring. I race vintage dirt bikes and I've got a couple BSAs (a 441 Victor and a B50MX) and a 500 Rickman Triumph so I'm pretty well versed in older Brit engineering. I'm friends with Jeff Smith, a Brit ex-pat who won the '64-'65 World 500 MX championships on BSAs. Good guy, and still a "hard man" at 72 years old.

Just to be clear, I like Brits and Canadians, as I've said before the three countries are more alike than they are dislike. At the same time, we all enjoy "taking the piss" as you guys say I think specifically because we are so similar. Its like three cousins talking shit or taking the piss at a local pub.

I'll say one more thing, Britain and Canada are the two countries I want watching our back when the shit hits the fan, because I sure as fuck dont trust the rest of Europe.

I quite agree, most Americans I have met have been fine. I have a massive dislike of people who think they are better than others for no reason though, one or two of the posters in this thread have been like that so I have fought fire with fire. The people who seem to think the US won world war 2 single handed for example, its bullshit. The war had been fought to a stalemate by the time America entered.

My teeth are fine and so are most of the people I know, I really don't know where this stereotype comes from. I am 31 and only have one filling and my teeth are a natural slightly off white, just not pearlescent which I have always thought looked stupid anyway.

Even though we got there far later, I actually think we had more impact on WWI than WWII. In the Great War, by the time we started coming both sides were at the point of exhaustion, and we started shipping over 300,000 men a month. In actual combat our contribution was not that significant, but the influx of a couple million fresh Yanks forced the Germans to sue for terms.

We made more significant impact in combat in WWII, but the fact remains if it was not for the Brits, there would have been nothing left for us to help take back.
