The fact that you think Nuke and I are victims of propaganda is the height of irony. I feel now that I may have fallen prey to some of that famously obscure British humor.

See that's why i can't discuss with you anymore, you still think i'm british.

The -fact- you're victimes of propaganda is evident in your posts, which anyone can see,

Can you name one thing I said that is not "real" history?

Never claimed you said antyig to that point,i told Slug to read real history outside the US schooling system.

Good point.

lol

It is, considering the US do it too. Not by weapons, but by subtle political moves. Bet more people have died in the US for government negligence then the russians killed.

Not to mention the point was towards your troops acting like vicious dogs recently, where the russians acted that way 60 years ago.

Slug and you need to read about real history, not what is taught at US schools.

What do you know about what is taught in US schools? If anything, American students are taught the same revisionist, apologist bullshit history that you are. I suppose Churchill's own memiors should be considered American propaganda...

I suppose you should start reading what is written.

old Tohtori, what country are you from?

It's been my experience from other forums that some people love to argue about America and how bad America is, but then refuse to say what country they are from. I'm not saying that is the case with you.

Well it would be bold of you to say that, since i never claimed america to be bad.

I'm Finnish, as might be evident of all the Finnish war stories.

You said that I needed to read "real" history. Can you list anything that I have said that is not real history?

Really, that is a poor form of argument when you counter a point by saying "you need to learn history".

I don't "love my country". Never did. I, like most Brits, wouldn't be dumb enough to whack a Union Flag up in our front gardens. We're past that as a people. I don't care where people are from, and the Polish pilots were by far and away the best...

Agreed. I think its the one thing that Americans don't get about Britain, with the exception of football, there simply isn't a culture of "my country, right or wrong" amongst the vast majority. We were the first industrial country, the first post-industrial country, the first post-religious country and the first post-nationalist country.

Oh, and don't believe the hype about the Poles; there was one Pole in the top ten fighter pilots during the Battle of Britain; five Brits, one ocker and two Kiwis. The most successful RAF pilot of the Battle of Britain? A Czech, Josef František. Note. Of the seven Americans who flew in the Battle of Britain (yes, seven), none owned a Daredevil costume.

That's sort of disappointing too me. You guys should be very proud of your country and your history. You have every right too be.

I'm pretty sure Ben Afleck wore a Daredevil costume in that Pear Harbor movie when he took the train from New York to London to save you guys in the Battle of Britain.

Nuke... When they say "real" history they mean history books that have been approved by the EU board of acceptable historic revisions. Books written by the actual people who made history are too biased.

Well Churchill did say "History will treat me kindly, for I intend to write it", so his own memoirs should be treated carefully (Its always important to separate WWII Churchill, from "pretty much the rest of his career" Churchill. People are a lot less well disposed towards Churchill if they are Indian, or Irish, for instance.)

Overall I am no fan of Churchill, but on three counts he was 100% correct.

1. Gallipoli was a good idea, but totally screwed up operationally

2. He was right about Hitler from the beginning

3. He was right not to trust Stalin, when FDR thought he could work with him.

I didn't tell you to go read real history.

I told Slug it, and een then i told to go read real hsitory outside US schooling.

The real history is written by many countries, you have to take out parts here, parts there, compare, stir in some baking soda, don't know the exact recipe, but listening only to what your country says is history or what your allies say is the history, is without any fault, always propaganda.

Nuke... When they say "real" history they mean history books that have been approved by the EU board of acceptable historic revisions. Books written by the actual people who made history are too biased.

Again with the "they". Use me, old.tohtori, him. Not they. I don't claim any power over the opinions of the individuals on this board.

And yes, history by the victors is biased. As i said up there, you need to read all of it and compare.

I'm sure you'll find that they actually are quite proud. They just handle it differently than you assume they should :)

We are. But that doesn't mean we're not our own harshest critics. Its one of the good things about us. Don't forget the UK is also a union of four countries; the English in particular can't afford to get too cocky because there'll always be a Scot or Welshman (or in my case, Irish in-laws) to remind us of our shortcomings as evil imperialist bastards (even though they all conquered the world just as enthusiastically). Chippy bastards :).

Also from what i've learned on my time with these brits;

They are proud, they will defend their past, they will f*ck you up if you judge them...but they don't act like dicks because of it.

Russia and China consistently go against the UN when ever they vote on sanctions against countries like Iraq, North Korea, Iraq and others. Sometimes our good friends, the French, join them.

Cuba.

You can't even go on holiday there. "Land of the Free" indeed. Lol! Everyone on the planet votes to end the embargo apart from the US, Israel and a couple of US protectorates. The rest of the planet knows that cuba isn't a military threat, a social threat or any sort of threat...

As for bullying, IMHO there's no more bullying a country than the USA...
