Yeah - refs let em get away with it and gain advantage from it.

Still in the UK we refer to it as a European problem (note that the UK never considers itself part of Europe which is pretty revealing) whereas they consider hooliganism as the English disease so its all fun :p

You guys should really play hockey. From what I've seen you would fit in:)

As far as pollution goes, it shouldn't be measured per capita or per area, it should be based on economic output. The US and Canada produce a significant portion of the world's economic output.

Dont worry about it - as all your manufacturing industries shut down and move to China your pollution output will drop like a rock - its worked for lots of European countries :p

They already did the balance of trade was about half a trillion last year in the red for the Yanks. Do the us actually make anything that anyone else wants these days, apart from toxic debts?

No doubt. Some of us are trying to curtail that. As more employees are losing jobs due to outsourcing to nations that basically have slave labor, and plants are closing outright, they hopefully will see that it is the high taxes and absurd constraints that are tying the hands of those that would keep manufacturing in the States.

Of course, that may also lead to more of them voting for the Dems who promise they will take care of them with health care, tuition, welfare, etc.

We will be fucked if even more Americans start believing that a Nanny Government is a good thing. We've got enough of them here, but some of us still have hope for the blind.

Yeah, wish that two guy comittee had more inspiration 50+ years ago.

Even so, hardly the US who invented using stars in flags ;)

A lot of our manufacturing has moved to China, but we still have a very large manufacturing base here..... cars, planes, tanks, ships, computer chips, software.......we still do make stuff.

We pretty much dont in the UK - we had the clever idea that manufacturing didnt matter because we'd have all these new jobs in the service industry but then it started getting outsourced to India...

That's all ok because we then got the whizzer idea to start playing with imaginary money which is still going pretty well. I'm sure we can keep thinking of some kind of magic bean to keep one step ahead of Johnny Foreigner.

We do need to exploit our natural resources though, i was considering earlier the fact that we are sitting on a goldmine with Lucien Freud, he's the highest value living artist in the world, if we can just somehow up his work rate we could just paint our way out of recession.

Are Marshall and Vox amps are still made there? I'm sure if you checked into it, there are still a lot of things made in the UK.

It's purely profit driven Assi. I can buy a custom printed product in China for resale here and get the same product faster and much cheaper than if I used a USA plant. What you may see as "absurd restraints" I see as reasonable safety and environmental standards. It's too bad we can't require any Nation that imports to America to have the same standards we have in place rather than the current system of exploitation we sponsor, but...it's how it is.

That's a good idea; we could also organize bake sales to pay off the national debt.

We have a tiny fragment left of what we had - thats why we are so reliant on the Financial Services sector.

Talyn and Swoop have done nothing other than bring two boards from different cultures closer together.

Of course there will be some bashing (isnt there always)

All of the people from the FW board I can call a friend.

Even though the FW board is un modded there is a lot a respect (sometimes someone slips) given.

I will enjoy the back and forth with you Anglish also.

New people are good, bringing new people here simply to start flame wars is pointless. You have your forum for that, and it's aptly named.

What we had was by the 1970s a load of shite. Good riddance to an industry that cost us more money than it made.

We failed to modernise and we had a lot of un-reasonable Trade Unions who crippled us.

Why

Only Europe does that to justify the amount of pollution that spews every day.

I was just fishing :touch:

Depends on what you like.

We have a multi-quote system on these boards for a reason. Use it instead of replying to everything individually, it's pointless, wastes your time and makes your conversation slightly more fractured.

If your boards are so ace, I'm surprised you can't manage such simple forum usage. Not surprised though given the average IQ in the USA is lower than that in the UK.

Yup. You guys are also better educated, too. However, we have stronger bones and teeth.

We may sound like 13 year old boys, but most of us are actually middle aged men.
internet law says that anyone sounding like a teen usually is a middle aged man, so you're quite right there dude.

It makes me laugh. It's a typical European attitude that makes you guys crave the protection of a nanny. You guys need a nanny to tell you what you can and can't do.
I love it when you call the UK people Euros. Perhaps thus they will finally accept the truth :D

You idiots are so uptight it's funny. Just reading your forum CoC is good for a laugh.
erm, you are aware of what segment of the populous this forum usually caters to, yes?

other than that, well done. your swearing has calmed a bit too, I'm not particularly impressed, but I am pleased.

anyway, in case ANY OF YOU ACTUALLY CARES, today is the 5th of May. Yesterday, the 4th of May, is the day the country I live in remembers the fallen in WWII. Today is the celebration of liberation from the oppressor. Shortly I will be going to the actual spot where the capitulation of German forces was accepted (by a Canadian General btw). I have also been to the invasion beaches in France. Stuff like that, it places things in perspective. Minor bickering, cock comparison, and saying fuck every other word become somewhat less important. Show some respect for the fallen, at the least on these days plx.

I'm back from Wageningen. Seeing lots of Veterans, and a parade of old vehicles was very impressive, along with bands, sunshine and general beer drinkery. 65 years ago now. wow.

Nice one TDC. Hope it went well. I've visited Normandy many times, but never Holland, as I said earlier I may do a quick sprint over to Arnhem. Is there much there in the way of stuff to see?

By the way, I'm also well aware that the Dutch people went through hell after the failure of Market Garden, while awaiting liberation.
