Many thanks to all that have contributed in one way or other to the current ETL Rulebook, and I strongly urge those that are considering entering this competition to READ them well before registration begins in 7 days.

Well I looked, I saw, I was amazed, amazed that it wasn't dated 1/4/99...(j/k)

I play the game Starseige Tribes, simply because I enjoy the game. If at a later date I find it's no longer fun I'll stop playing. Put simply I trust that people playing on public or league servers, will do so honourably, because they are playing for fun and the camaraderie of clan/tribe play.

Personally I believe that rules, like law's and taxes should be firmly in the category of the fewer the better. Sadly the ETL rule list reads like War and Peace, all be it an edition that was written by a committee. If you attempt to cover every foreseeable problem with a rule or clause, you end up with rules that are unenforceable. Reading between the lines you seem to be saying IMHO that you do not trust any of the tribes or tribespeople that may sign up to the ETL and therefore want complete and absolute control of all players in the league.

I’d seriously suggest that you take another look at the rules as I think you have far too many and far to broad a coverage. Also the match section (2) needs a re-think. In there present form I wouldn’t be at all interested in signing up for the ETL and I think they will put off many other tribespeople too.

The ETL stands a good chance of becoming a top tribes league. But leagues are made up from players, who will only respect the league if the league respect’s and trusts them.

It seems Brit has realised this, and is now changing the ETL to become a ladder system like the OGL, though i imagine this will take a fair while to get running.

Between the UKTL, WPTL, ETL, tribe practices and friendlies could mean im playing a match every night of the week.

I enjoy tribes but too many competitive matches, and my enjoyment will fade.

But rule 5.(A)(iii) subsection .alpha.6b states clearly that all discussion should occur on the barrysworld webboard to ensure that no part of rule 4.(C)(iv) is not contravened. Or something.
