I'd guess Xmas economics is certainly a factor but I also think he made a promise in the original kickstarter campaign that it would be released by the end of this year. Seems like he'd rather stick to that than fix all the outstanding problems.

Lost 50%+ of my FPS a lot of the time in the last two patches. Used to be at 70-80 in supercruise - now it hovers around 30-35, but sometimes goes back up to 70-80...

Weird.

There are some network-related slowdowns that I see now and then... but mostly it's the background (as in process, not the skybox or any such) texture generation when approaching planets that bites me (and this is on an i7-4790k with GTX 780 Ti). There are some known possible workarounds for the issue, although I've yet to try them yet.

Same... Hopped into solo for an hour or two to test the new build.

Lots of micro stuttering during frameshift, during normal flight, during supercruise.

Never had any if that before recent patches.

A step on the wrong direction IMO.

I am not filled with confidence for "release". The gamma build is going to have to be spectacukar for my opinion to change.

This all sounds very positive news for me. It's going to take me a year of squirreling away cash to buy what I believe is known as a 'gaming rig' to play this on. Sounds like it'll be just about ready by then.

I hope no-one was looking forward to playing ED in a fully offline mode. Newsletter #49 (and followup forum posts from devs) have nixed that. Just not possible for them to do given the server infrastructure they created for the online game without huge amounts of work.

Beta 3.9 coming on Thursday 20th Nov, with a full wipe. And we'll still get another full wipe on the 22nd when Gamma starts. Gamma will be only for those people who have beta access by then (although there's a wrinkle in that some non-beta/alpha Kickstarter tier said it includes Gamma access). No news on what new features we might get in Gamma.

Well, removing one of the promised core game features they've been selling expensive beta copies as having just 3 weeks before release is a bit of a fuck up. They must have known it was likely to happen for a long time now.

I suspect that to fix some of the performance issues they have moved more processing server side from client - this would explain why it's only come to light recently. *shrugs*

If so I may logon just to see if stuttering is fixed and raise a ticket if not. Then not touch it until Gamma.

Full wipe, all cash and everything, prior to gamma, but after that rock and roll unless there is a critical issue requiring a wipe before release. In other words a head start gamma -> release.

You could try out a bit of 3.05 to see if it's more stable for you? Other than that I agree... I'm not playing much at all waiting for gamma to start

Been playing it. My Cobra MKIII is nicely pimped out.
