I see we have lost money by bailing out RBS. Oh how completely and utterly unsurprising.

Should have let them go to the wall.

The Icelanders let all of their banks go to the wall, to massive outrage. It was the best thing they did economically.

On this I'm inclined to agree, even though I worked for HBOS at the time. How can banks ever be trusted not to take huge risks if we just bail them out?

They just carried on like nothing happened. In any system, you fuck up, you die. People need to riot about this.

I understand that the only people actually jailed over the 2008 crash were two whistleblowers who shouted about unethical goings on that they were performing at a bank - when they told their bosses they were told to carry on and when they told the press they ended up in jail.

Quite right Moggie, but it is still an issue that hasn't been resolved nor have you accepted that basic honesty and knowing basic rules is rather important reflection on your ability to deal with more complicated issues.

And the people who picked up £10k fines for having house parties will be rightly fuming at their criminal records...

I am going to be "that guy" but she isn't a British citizen, never has been, she is Indian. It's not quite as straightforward.

Doesn't matter, she has shares in an Indian company, an Indian company HQ'd in India, and she is an Indian national and presumably pays taxes in India. These 500m in Infosys shares being the issue that kicked all this off. Like the chap says, she is either non-dom or not.
While it's not a great look, It doesn't matter who she is married to. If they go after her, essentially by changing the rules, then they have to go after hundreds/thousands of other people too, from all walks of life, where they haven't before.

This is not the same situation as a UK national chilling their heals in Monaco for 6 months of the year to avoid tax.

I think it does matter who she is married to. Political spouses are not independent of their partners under UK ministerial code. So if she found out to not be non-dom then there might actually be trouble. Although I'm sure it would just be a slap on the wrist as normal.

I would prefer to change the rules around non dom status, to me 15 years is far too long.

wow.

I don't see how rishi can stay if this is true. ( which it must be for the papers to be reporting it as fact )

The timing of the info re: his wife then this seems rather a deliberate campaign for removal, probably by team boris?

He doesn't know how to pay for things in a shop.

Why the fuck does anyone think "yeah, the man who doesn't know anything about basic life in the UK is the person I want running the economy"? He put £5bn into knocking a few pennies off the price of fuel, when he could have put all of that into home and business insulation schemes, for a permanent improvement in the cost of living.

Mostly probably coming from Boris himself. He has been rising a little too quickly.

Unprecedented amount of leakage from number 10. Embarrassing.

If boris was gonna get shanked then it was rishi vs lizz truss, could be coming from her as well, considering she was at rupert murdochs birthday party last year ( although i think patel, sunak, gove and truss all were ).
Perhaps a stealth move from Gove possible as well.

Actually this has fuckface mcgee written all over it, but he got sent to the lords specifically to stop shit like this ( coming out against boris ).
