Their comments will be blah, blah, grumble grumble, blah, blah and nothing will change.

UK Home Office said:
government and police have a duty to protect the public

Protect us from the truth?

Anyway. I've been waiting before posting in the hope that Ctuchik and Aada would turn up in the thread unprompted and comment on these developments. Unsurprisingly they haven't.

Why? My wager is that they're dumb enough and trusting enough to be as blinkered to crimes of the state as the religious are to the crimes of the orthodoxy.

I like the way the PM washed his hands of it even though the idea to hold him came from the top.

I generally don't wish slow and agonising death on anyone but I wish Theresa May would vanish into a puff of smoke.

Good article that, makes you think about how fucking shit our laws have become and what real "freedom" we actually have in our democratic societies.

A lot more than some countries that's for sure.

Utter bollox, our so called elected governments (who work for the population) have restricted and imposed laws that restrict us so much, the only difference between us and the Dictatorstate is that our restrictions are not about what we wear..... so we don't actually realise how we have been fucked over.

I don't believe you understand the concept of freedom.

You are either free, or you are not. It's a black-and-white issue. There are no shades of grey.

You're "free", but.... is a shameful state of affairs.

We, ie those of us who live in the "Western" world are not free. Far from it.

Tell me about it, go jjump on a box in front of Downing Street, or Buckingham Palace and call them cunts, in the same breath refuse to give them your password to your personal, encrypted stash of porn, go RIPA. Aada you sure we are living in a free environment? My question is this, since when did our government stop serving the population that put them in power?

What do you mean by free? limitless freedom?

The ability to say what you want, not have to disclose passwords for stuff you might have at home or somewhere else, the ability to move around the UK without CCTV tracking you. You know, the ability to go round ya mates and call Cameron a cunt without being shot or shipped off to America.

Lets say for instance that CCTV was needed for a wanted serial child rapist or whatever horrible thing you can think of, isn't CCTV something useful?

Lets say for instance

Lets not Aada.

I would very much like to hear from you - but I want your informed comment on the article I posted and your reasoning why it's incorrect.

Let's say you wanted to wank and then had the UK government (those we electecd) bang down your door. This is not about our child rights (parents will protect their children no matter what, I know I would). Think about it, this time next year when you are shitting a big dump out some cunt is watching it leave your arse, decides it is just wrong.

I think some people are too paranoid, interesting scenario though.

Do some of you really think about this sort of stuff?

Go to speakers corner and call the government a bunch of cunts, refuse to give up your password for your personal porn collection (a terrorist threat), show how our government is spying on us, the same people that put them in power. Thanks.

Manning signed the Secrets Act there is no discussion here, I do not agree with what he did, there are things plebs on the internet should not know or see.

Why would I need to go to speakers corner and call the government a bunch of cunts? password for my porn collection? I don't have a password.

Fair enough, you don't care about keeping things private to you (and your family). I do, some things I only want my blood to know, not the government. Simples, I wish.....

There are things the government do not know about me and my family.

Of course if I wanted to I could sit here and start thinking of things they may or may not know but I don't have the time.

Of course there are things the government do not know about you and your family; the problem is that increasingly, if you want to keep it that way, you don't have the rights to do so. Now you may argue that it doesn't matter what they know about you, but those of us with imagination would disagree.

Signing the secrets act is not the same as throwing away one's moral foundations.

No one is arguing about the fact the secrets act was broken (it clearly, obviously, blatantly was in several regards), but this line from the aljazrera article is relevant:

One does not need to like Manning to be appalled by what she revealed. One does not need to approve of her actions to be appalled by their necessity. The question is not whether Manning broke the law. It is whether the law is broken.

This is why whistleblower protection laws and presidential pardons exist. Obviously a legal system cannot be flawless, so you give judges leeway, sometimes that's not enough and you change a law. Sometimes, that's not enough and the prez/queen/ayatollah has to get involved and pardon someone when it's obvious the law was not designed to cope with the situation.

Y' see Aada, you've already said that. You're simply repeating yourself.

My question was explain the reasoning behind why you think that the article is incorrect.

I'm not interested in reading an article, I came here I gave my view on what I thought of Snowden and that's all.

My mistake was coming here at 1915 today and posting in this thread that I replied to over a month ago with my view on Snowden.

That is the one of the weakest pieces of **** I've ever read in all my years on this forum, even when it was Barrysworld.

Your view on this borders on religious. That thinking follows the same line of bullshit sheeplike dogma.

Are you not ashamed of not even trying to enter into a debate?
