Argh, I'm tempted to buy that ps2. Mother refuses to ship mine over from Australia, claiming it'd be cheaper to buy a new one. (She's probably right) Mine isn't a slim one, nor is it modded. I only have 1 scart socket in the back of my telly and thats used for my freeview box thingy though. Does the slimline ps2 use a scart socket, or just an av cable?

I got a great Madcatz scart block from Asda. I think it was around a tenner but it's perfect for what I need.

All 4 plugs are fully wired i.e. All RGB compliant as opposed to some just doing composite. Plus if you get some AV equipment that has a funny scart signal it can mix in with other signals on an ordinary scart block. This one have manual switches for you to choose which input to use. Tis great.

It uses SCART but you can take the SCART adapter off and just use the composite wires (the yellow one), which can be plugged into the front of 99% of TV's.

Oh thats good. My telly has those slots on the front too. How does it differ from Scart, if at all?

I really shouldn't be spending my money, but the ps2 brings back alot of memories for me. Darn Teedles and his Final Fantasy thread. :(
I'm off to London till Saturday morning, so I'll see if anyone has bidded by then. :)

Tbh, I think you only need scart if you have a decent TV. I've used AV my whole life and its been fine, no problems. And any bids are welcome :p Need the money :p

Composite is only one step up from a RF connection, if you get s-video, RGB scart or the ultimate component, you will notice sharper pictures and better colour. And this is a difference that you can actually notice unless you have a shit heap 14" tv.

The scart lead you get with a PS2 is just a composite o cable with a scart adaptor on the end like I said. If anything, the scart adaptor makes the picture worse. It's more than acceptable on a 26" SDTV anyway.

I never said you did tris, I was simply pointing out the benefits of the different connections. Go smoke a joint or something, you dont usually take posts the wrong way.

That scart adapter unfortunately doesn't split the composite signal into an RGB format. It still carries it to the telly in a composite form.

A good way to tell the difference on a PS2 is if you have a scart lead that has a DVD/GAME switch on the scart lead. In order to get rid of the odd green screen effect on the PS2 when watching DVD's it must be played in composite mode. Switch between the two modes and assuming you have it plugged into an RGB socket on the telly you'll notice a hell of a difference.

i first got an plasma few years back, composite was way shit, rgb scart was better but component was da bomb! panzer dragoon orta, jsrf pgr2 all looked better, same with ps2 shadows of the colossus, killer 7 & god of war looks very bad until you play it at 480p over component.

for regular old sk00l crt tvs i bet youd see an improve ment over composite when using svhs or rgb scart

Insist on going up the chain of command.. you'll either get to talk to a God of some kind, or an English speaking supervisor, I would expect.

If you just ring a few more times will get an English person, last time I spoke to some Indian women or what ever she was I was on the phone for 20 mins of her talking shit you couldn't even understand. So I rang back and got some English guy that basically resolved the issue in 5 mins.

Don't Ebay own Paypal, or vice versa? There's an online payment company called Nochex I used to use years ago but dunno how popular or flexible they are.
