It all depends on how much freedom mythic gets really ... PR says its gonna be EA mythic , so it still has mythic it in, means there might be hope. Sanya also said that mark is still on the highest post in the studio which wud leave us to the gimped community :< ..... we need to make a deal with GOA to get an official cluster community server on WAR it seems :p

If it is as Sanya says it cant be all to bad, but what i fear the most, as alot of others, is the community a companny like "EA" brings with it. For god sake we do not want anything close to the behavios in WoW(i know EA didnt make wow) or the EA games. And yes they destroyed a ohh so loved game CC.

if you look at it, EA wont get a hold of Mythic till l8 2007, at which point WArhammer should almost be finished in time for EA to spend all there money at what they are good @ marketing.

Are GW gonna buckle under the huge wads of cash EA can throw at them?

No offense to GW, but they are nowhere as big a company(money wise) as EA, Blizzard are

In the end, it will come down to money and fuck the rest! :)

I can see a mass marketting war between War and WoW, with the same effect as the Monday Night wars did in the US(WWFvs WCW)

It can either split the audience or create thousands of new players. Problem with that, both games will go downhill as the standards drop with each new player.

What keeps DAOC running is the fact that it has a loyal playerbase and the best pvp system out there.

think you would be suprised
GW being going 25 odd years and are international company with loads of shops + regular customers , fan boys etc. they are hardly strapped for cash, plus look at the bloke from the E3 vid (paul,er, barnett?), you think he would take cash over fluff ? ;)

Sorry but I have nothing good to say about EA. They have ruined so many games and companies and I stopped playing their games along time ago.

I don´t intend on giving them any money,

Given the way the takeover market works in the US, there's still chance for this to not even go ahead, they're quoting 2nd quarter 2007 for god's sake!

I seriously cannot belive that Mark Jacobs and his team at Mythic haven't gone over this with a very very fine toothcomb. If they wanted to just sell out they could have done that years ago when DAoC was at its peak given that they've admitted to turning down plenty of offers.

As for Games Workshop, I think people are mistaking them for some tiny two bit independent company - they are a massive conglom including tabletop games, licence and franchise deals for RTS and other computer games across all platforms, book and magazine publishing as well as all the miniatures and the associated fanboi-ness that goes with them and the 320-odd shops they have across the UK and the rest of the world.
They're not small potatoes :)

nerf so many different sources :D

may not be uber compared to the big companies , but they arent exactly going to sell out for a fiver ;)

So far from the posts from Sanya it is belivable that EA will stay away from development and go for the marketing..

Said this before somewhere but EA taking over anything could be bad - imagine it now - War server closes Dec 2007, War 2008 comes out, closes Dec 08, War 2009 comes out with almost exact same game but new skins and a few new named npc's...

d0omed!
