Posting this to get the word out. Apparently the police can't identify the driver, as he isn't the registered keeper. That person is claiming the car was stolen, and then returned. Unmarked.

OK, let's clear up this speculation. I FILMED THIS CLIP. The reason I'm not showing any footage before this is that there isn't any! I switched the camera on when I saw the driver shunt another of the group onto the pavement while forcing his way through the traffic bollards a few seconds before this happened, following which he jumped out of his car and chased the first cyclist up the pavement.

It's funny, in this country we don't allow vigilante justice, so nothing the cyclist did could justify the fella coming up and punching him.

You can only use proportionate force to defend yourself, and I didn't see the cyclist trying to open the attackers door to get to him and do him harm.

I'm in that camp too Sparx, but tbh most UK cyclists I know tell me simply being on the roads is enough to warrant one. You're not a car, yet they have to look out for you...

I've been followed before (in my car) for shaking my head at someone, not exactly a recognised declaration of war, but the other guy was clearly fucked up in the head and only needed the smallest excuse to be provoked.

Where I work the cyclists have taken over - you see em on every pedestrian walkway, cycling the wrong way up the one way streets and yes if a cyclist hits a pedestrian they can be killed but they seem to universally fail to spot the irony when they moan about drivers...

I see cars parked on the pedestrian footpaths all the time. Everywhere. Do you think they magically teleport there?

It's a totally inconclusive video, you can argue for the cyclist and, without seeing what happened before (because something *MUST* have happened and what the cyclist said in that post isn't necessarily the whole truth because methinks he might be a bit biased in this situation), you can't say the cyclist didn't do something outrageous. And no, I'm not condoning the actions of the driver but unless he is a *total* fucking lunatic, he must have had some provocation to react the way that he did.

Car drivers vs cyclists is such a pointless and circular argument. :\

Most people don't get angry enough to punch someone without *some* sort of initiating action or provocation. Mental illness or psychosis can't be ruled out though.
