Well we drive on the correct side of the road here so... :p

Anyway he was going straight on, second exit, signaled right and didn't indicate off (left).

Well, at least in Sweden he SHOULD indicate right for that? :p

In Sweden you indicate either right for right, left for third or more exit or nothing for second exit/straight a head. And once you are inside the roundabout you should ALWAYS signaling right when you exit the roundabout.

Man. That's retarded :)

Two things. Works on all configurations of roundabouts:

1) Signal right if you're going further round than straight on.

2) Start signalling left as you pass the on-part of the junction before the one you exit.

Job done safely.

That's basically what I said except that you should also signal if you take the first exit?

Ah, I forget, you drive on the wrong side. Doh! :)

Yep. First exit for us is first left - indicate as you would do turning left...

I'm not a cyclist, I ride motorbikes, so I am treated with equal contempt by pedestrians, car drivers and those of a cycling persuasion.

I make a couple of simple assumptions on the road, which serve me quite well. Firstly, I assume that everyone else on the road is trying to kill me or have very little worth living for. Most days I see evidence to support this. Secondly I assume all pedestrians are suicidal or dislike their children and want to push them into the road. Lastly I assume that the Idiot in that video Tom posted is a mild example of social norm for your average road user. If you keep these things in mind, it becomes a lot safer riding to and from work. On the road, paranoia is your friend.

^This. Its how I was tought to ride a motorbike as well. Problem with cyclists is you don't see enough paranoia.

erm I drive a car and apply that logic to everyone on the road. strangely, when I ride a bike I am far more trusting :/

coincidentally I almost got rear-ended by another car yesterday. another alfa for that matter. I stopped for a bridge (!!!) that was signalling it was going to open for a boat, and the other guy was going to fast and had to pull out on to the approaching lane to avoid hitting me. then he lit up a cigarette, and stared out the window for five minutes. I know this, because I was watching him and his chav mate in my mirror :/

I just watched a guy come out of 7 eleven, with a bottle of beer, jumps on his bike and necks half of it and drives off. Main road (5 lanes each side) and only 11pm as well, funny how no one cares ...

These are the a holes that cause an accident, and it isn't fun sliding off a bike with no protective clothing. I hopped on a bike once on a resort island which was a bumpy dirt road, I was so drunk I could barely walk and I broke the ignition barrel somehow. I started it and skidded off only to nearly loose it on the first corner (if there was a car coming up, i'd hit it at speed with no helmet), it was a scary cold sobering wake-up call and would never drive anything drunk again.

These idiots have accident after accident and still don't leave the drunk driving alone.

I ride on paths in the city (as most of it is pedestraised(sp) anyway) and on the roads on the outskirts, don't get any hassle tbh if i start to build up traffic behind me if its a busy road, i tend to go on the path, because I know as a passenger of a car, it can be a nightmare for some cyclist to be making a queue of traffic, with a empty pavement to the left of him :)

And besides I like to swurve on paths, thinking im doing some moto-gp shit

So to sum up then:

People are stupid and complete idiots no matter what vehicle they are driving/riding or just walking..
