I did not question their communication skills...

My music tastes are not specific to one genre so i goto alternative clubs/bars which has lots of emo's in, one of the things you often here people say is "Oh its fucking myspace night again". Im not talking from a short sighted perspective as i am usually surrounded by these people. I am also sick of how some of them go on about how they are so Straight Edge...but then they have meaningless sex or drink alchohol or do drugs/smoke.

I have a friend who knows a fair few Emo's so when we goto alternative places they end up coming over and speaking to him. They dont all go on about how depressed they are but a majority do. I paint you with this tarnished brush because i have seen/heard alot of emo's. I suspect not all of the chavs are complete *****, but i've yet to meet a nice one.

Why judge people by what they wear? well the thread is titled "Do you like emo", my answer is no and i have given my reasons. The weird outfits is one of the things i dislike because its so In Your Face "Hey look at me with my pink emo fringe and silver pyramid belt with 12inch spinner".
I dont like turning round and seeing guys with girls jeans on so their arses are hanging out!

Im not some complete outsider who judges emo's, where i live there are a few alternative places so they are always busy. The problem with this is the myspace emo's swarm there in abundance.

what do you mean you paint "me" with the same brush? i havnt at one point said i am Emo.
Just dont like the fact people insult some of my best friends, because they happen to wear tight jeans... Personally i think fashionably ripped jeans, t-shirts from Burtons with "eagle" motifs on, Gelled to the max spiky hair, and the latest nike air max's looks just as silly, but im not judging them as people.

the lad culture that is sweeping britain is much more of a concern personally, boy racing chavs threatening the very future of our country, and people whine at emo's for wearing tight jeans? Punks have been doing this for decades but no-one bats an eyelid?

idk, im not "Emo", i just happen to listen to the music. I wear pyramid belts, my trousers should probably be pulled up from time to time, I have "silly" floppy hair, that on some days goes over one of my eyes, im 20+, and funnily enough, i have a happy life. Ohh I have a Myspace account as well. Ill just get back to cutting my wrists shall I?

thats what i wear tho i dont gel my hair i use Dax(stuff of champions)

And hey gets me laid so dont care what ppl say about me. Thats the style of the culture i'm in and i'm fookin happy with it. Not sure where that arguement lies but there ya go. But its not just about the style ppl are talking about here, yes i think they look funny in their girly tight jeans but thats just cause men and tight jeans look funny they could be black, blue or orange they will still look funny

What ppl are saying here is the majority of emo's ppl have met are ppl who feel sorry for themselves and moan, just the same as alot of gay ppl (and yes i know alot) are drama queens, fact of the matter is they are not all drama queens, the rest of the gay community (the ones you couldnt really tell cause they dont flaunt it with "look at me i'm here and i'm queer") cant stand them.

I'm sure that could also be the same for emo's the moaners and cutters generate the stereotype image that everyone else goes by. That stereotype must have came from somewhere

Live and let live guys...
Do those emo's bother you in your day to day life? And seeing a little movie on the internet you clicked to start yourself doesn't mean bothering.
Are they bullying you or your kids?
Are they trying to prevent you to go to school/work?
Do they steal from you or pick fights with ye?

guess not.

So they aren't harrassing you, they just happen to have another taste in music, clothing and general lifestyle than you do.
Get your head out of your arse and notice that you might look like that yourself to some other "social group"

Live and let live, now shoo with this emo whine.

I agree with the "live and let live" part wholeheartedly, but isn't it also peoples right to have their head in their respected anus'es?

Afterall, if we are to say "to each their own" and "live and let live", shouldn't those individuals, who wish to have their brainholders stuck right up their pimply a-holes, have the right to do so?

That they do, however the side-effect is that when they get their 4kg of dead weight out of their excrementtube and start to make noises, there's a real yucky smell coming out of those airholes which physically affects those around them, thus breaking with the three rules stated in my previous post :)

Quite, so actually if all the so called "assheads" would remove their talkboxes out of their farttunnels, they would infact let out such a stench of gas and excrement, that they would be doing the exact opposite of good, which is smell to high heavens.

"OMG MEIGHTS SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU KNOW NOTHING!!!!!"

followed by the usual its got nothing to do with you leave be etc

Why cant we discuss things? i'm sure the ones who are flaming emo's in this post have been flamed themselves in another. Part of the fun

I wrote my last reply just before lunch and was in a rush, it was not meant to say You. It was supposed to say "I paint them with this tarnished brush". You have my sincerest apologies as you quite clearly never stated you were emo.

Thats a fair point, but the thread title asks for opinions on emo's and thats what people have written. At no point does it ask 'Do you like people with spiky hair and shirts from burtons'.

Again thats a fair point, i was not around when the punks were at there most popular, however it seems like most emo's are only emo because they wanna be a scene kid with everyone else.
Also the discussion is not about comparisons between chavs and emo's so i wont comment any more on this part.

Really, how is this different from any other social group?
Humans are herd animals. It's in our nature to socialize with a group.
Be it nerds, chavs, pikeys or emo's, we are biologically programmed to associate ourselfs with others.

(sorry pikeh, the pikeys was a must here :p)

No, but as everyone was saying how they hate emo's without any particular reason, i was just saying, i wont dislike someone instantly just going by what clothes he or she is wearing, as so many seem to be doing.

Same here, but then again that's my point all along. To have nbo point and having a point in just that. Also when you don't know where you're going, you'll be pleasently suprised when you get there.

Atleast now that i'm feeling a bit more seelish again. It's good to be Teh Seel :D

Oh no, i've always loved arguing. People just don't understand that it's nothing personal, it's just the enjoyment of discussing matters and is often seen as fighting.

Funny. People that is :D

So you won't dislike someone dressed as a neo-nazi.

Right.

I always had you down for an emo tbh.

To be honest I never even heard of emo's before until a month ago, like I said its just another non-existant sub culture claiming to be different when they really aren't.

If theres so many people putting so much effort into trying to be different then surely they are really just conforming to the idea that they have to be different? They don't have the imagination to be truely different, they are just conforming to what they think is expected of them wether they believe it or not.

As for me, im just a normal proletariat content with life. Though I do think goth girls are quite attractive :)

Someone tell this guy that i should not, in any case, no matter what the situation, be handed a pointy stick. A dull one, curved one, a penis like one...yes...but a pointy one.

Oh dear.

I can't even take it 'cause i know what might happen...though tempting,..*grins*
